This is simple but it works. Place the spark leads onto the plugs as neatly as possible and then remove them from the distributor.
Now, while cranking (Someone else in drivers seat) take one wire at a time and move it over the towers until you find one that speeds up the engine turns. Stop the starter and install at that tower. Repeat this search method until the correct towers are found. Can't help but work, If the engine runs rough after doing this, pull one wire at a time until the wire in the wrong tower is found. There will also be another that you can swap with.
Please! Use the insulated fuse puller plyer type, or be prepared for a few shocks..........They won't hurt you, just be ready for some rough grabs. If you have heart trouble, get someone who is a good sport to 'handle' the wires.

Laying the wires from the spark plugs is called dressing the wires out. Do have a shocking good time!

the fireing order is 1-3-4-2 to reset the plug wires, remove the plug closest to the drive belts. this is the front of the motor, right hand side if you were behind it looking forward.take the dist cap off and have some bump the motor over with your finger over the hole that num.1 plug screws into note what dirication the rotor spins.when you feel air pushing at your finger number 1 is ready to fire line up the timing mark if you can pop the cap on ,you got
number 1 and rotation 3 is next ect
