Check your starter. I'm not sure if over heating can damage it, but if your battery works and the car isn't turning over, I'd start at the starter. Is there a click sound when you turn the key? Thats what my car did when the starter died. You can find your starter, and have someone tap on it with a long pole or something, while someone is trying to start the car, if it starts up, you need a new starter.

There's a good possibility that it has overheated and locked up the motor. I couldn't honestly say, without looking at it myself....not knowing what kind of car you have. Most newer cars have aluminum heads and when they over-heat, they just melt down....Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but I would guess you're lookin' at a new motor.

Sounds like one of three possibilities:
1. your starter wire has come detached from the starter (or is broken somewhere)
2. bad starter motor
3. your engine has seized up from the overheating.

do the lights go out when the key is in the start position?
is it an automatic? if so try putting it in neutral and starting it. may just be a bad neutral safety switch

I think the starter is broken....so it must be towed and a good mechanic can address all of your problems!...get ready to charge a bunch of money!

starter is bad,or your engine is water locked. if you can hear the starter engage, it's the ladder.
