Hi,
I just called a local repair shop that is minutes from where i live. He said that he would charge me $32.50 just to "look" at my car to pay for his time. Is this typical? My old mechanic recently went out of business and he never charged me, but he was a friend of the family. Before that, my car was under warranty. Is a free estimate too much to ask?

We have a 1996 Polaris Trailboss 250 that needs a new transmission.

We found a transmission from a 1991 Polaris Trailboss 250, but it is pricey, and we don't want to spend the money unless we are sure it will fit.

Does anyone know if they are compatible?

According to the mechanic there are many parts that need to be disassembled before removing the starter and replacing it. I thougt about taking the lexus to the dealership, but I'm afraid it will cost me a lot more. I got some estimates for around $300.00 from some of yahoos's participants. Is this correct, or I'm getting riped-off? Thank you for your inpute any mechanic out there.

I have a 1998 dodge neon. I just had an oil change a few days ago. When I brake, my car shakes and my oil light comes on. It feels like it is going to stall, but doesn't. It doesn't shake when it accelerates though. Also, my car smells like something is burning. Does anyone know what the problem is and how much it would cost to fix? Thanks.

It has over 120,000 miles on it. I replace the starter and it has a new transmission. My sister wants to get it fix for her. Is it worth it?
