if i bought a new carburetor, say an edelbrock or holley, will my car burn more fuel? its already a gas guzzler as it is, but the carb is old and not properly adjusted, i suppose.. im thinkin that if a buy a new one, 2 barrel, that it might improve performance and fuel efficiency? will that happen?

I'm hoping this is something simple that I can repair myself. Can anyone tell me (in detail) how I could check for a short or whatever might be causing the blinker to stay on?

Are there any other alternatives other than gasoline besides: a bike or walking? Paying $3.00 a gallon is outrageous. I know americans are spoiled but we drive more than most countries, why shouldn't we have more effiecient vehicels? Where are the alternative vehicles? Why did the electric/solor/hydrogen cars disappear?

I have a 95' Buick Skylark, Friday I got gas, nothing was wrong. Sunday though after I washed the car and all I started it up and I noticed that the Anti-lock ABS light came on and wouldn't go off. What does it mean when this light comes on and what can be wrong?

The factory shifter is missing where it shows what direction to put it in 4high, 4low, or 2high so I was wondering exactly which way to go to ensure that I have actually got it out of 4 wheel drive.

I am not what you would call an auto mechanic, but I am no dummy either. I am having problems getting the fuel filter out of my car. The top fuel port comes off easily with a ratchet wrench. The bottom fuel port has a bolt that it takes a crescent wrench to undo. I have to use two wrenches, one to hold the filter in place, and the other to turn the bolt. The bottom bolt isn't budging - all I am doing is stripping the bolt. I am turning it counter clockwise. So what is the problem??? I checked the threads on the new filter, and it looked like I was turning it the right way.

Part II of the question - the oil filter has a clamp that is holding it in place. The bolt that hold the clamp in place stick through the nuts almost look like the Cone Heads. I can't get my ratchet onto the nuts because of the cone heads, and there is no room for a wrench. Do you have to buy a special ratchet wrench for this.

FYI: I have a '97 Honda Civic HX

Tens points to whoever can solve my mystery

I have an 87' trans am and yesterday I left the lights on accidently until car ended up dying. I jumped the car today and it's running, however now its shaking a lot. Before the car battery died the car ran perfectly. When i come to a complete stop or the car is just idling in park it shakes unusually hard. Also when i am driving and give the car some gas it doesn't feel right. I asked a mechanic friend of mine he suggested that it might be the computer reprogramming itself since the battery was dead and in 24 hours or so it will probably stop by iteself and run normally. Anyone ever have a problem like this?

I have a 2007 Chevy Cobalt. I hit the curb pretty hard and the left front and back tires are messed up and make my car wobble pretty bad to the point where I can't drive it right now. It had to be towed. I'm wondering if anyone out there knows how much it will cost to get this fixed and tell me in detail what is probably wrong with the car. Everything else on the car is fine except the 2 left wheels. Help!!!
