I am not what you would call an auto mechanic, but I am no dummy either. I am having problems getting the fuel filter out of my car. The top fuel port comes off easily with a ratchet wrench. The bottom fuel port has a bolt that it takes a crescent wrench to undo. I have to use two wrenches, one to hold the filter in place, and the other to turn the bolt. The bottom bolt isn't budging - all I am doing is stripping the bolt. I am turning it counter clockwise. So what is the problem??? I checked the threads on the new filter, and it looked like I was turning it the right way.
Part II of the question - the oil filter has a clamp that is holding it in place. The bolt that hold the clamp in place stick through the nuts almost look like the Cone Heads. I can't get my ratchet onto the nuts because of the cone heads, and there is no room for a wrench. Do you have to buy a special ratchet wrench for this.
FYI: I have a '97 Honda Civic HX

I would buy American, BUT they get half as good fuel mileage, and have twice as much maintenance problems. When your American car is 10 years old, and has 130,000 miles on it and hasn't had any maintenance more major that a tune-up every 15K ... then come talk to me.
