Legal rights when my car hit someone in front of me or someone backed into me!! Please help me - I'm a wreck
I was in my school parking lot waiting to pick up my child (there is a long line of cars) when I accidentally let my foot slip off the brake, we we're all stopped and slid into a van in front of me. The driver and I both got out and we saw there was no damage and went on with our lives. About a week later, I get a call from her husband wanting $440.00 for a damaged bumper. He said that was the lowest quote. Now he's calling and harrassing me about payment. What do I do? He says he has a witness that saw the whole thing. Saw his wife get out with me and say there was no damage? I don't understand. I saw her van and there is not a dent or scratches on that back fender as well as not on my front fender. I am so stressed over this. Please help me.

ok i divorced my husband we had an expidition under both of our names after we divorce he kept the car he had the car reposes we was sent to court so they can get their money since it was a 3 year lease now the finance company is garnishing my wages since he was hiding from them. so they went after me so is there anything i can do so i can get aleast half of the money they are garnishing from my paycheck since he did keep the car

every year i get a sticker from dmv to for license plate but never been required to get a smog test. this is 8 years later. my car is not a hybrid. I thought california smog test laws were strict. now when i sell my car do I have to get a smog test?

My car was stolen 4 weeks ago. I am trying to claim my insurance, although with great difficulty due to their lack of communication and minformation that they keep giving me.

My car was recovered, but they are going to write it off, but my V5 was in the car - I told the insurance co this 3 weeks ago, and was told to send them a cover note, and this would probably be enough. 3 weeks later - I have still been waiting to hear from them, and have been told that I need to obtain a copy of my V5 or a letter from the DVLA on headed paper to confirm that I was the registered keeper.

The DVLA said that they are unable to provide a letter for me, and to obtain an additional V5 it will cost me a further £25, even though it wasn't my fault it was stolen, and I no longer have the vehicle. My insurance co will not re-imburse this money, so it is leaving me even further out of pocket.

I was then told that I would be able to get a Microfiche of the original V5 free of charge from the DVLA

About 4 weeks ago my car was rear ended at a red light traffic stop.
It was being repaired for 3 weeks and i was unable to obtain a hire car for the duration as I'm under 25 and was informed that hire company's do not provide insurance to under 25's.

Today i received my car from the place where it was being repaired and found that the work is really unacceptable. There are huge gaps between the joints of the bumper and rear lights , they didn't replace damaged mud flaps which were cracked from the rear bumper being squashed into them , there are wire clips missing , there are paint leaks where the paint has leaked and dried , there are grease stains everywhere on the upholstery and I'm yet to have a look at the under body which i will do tomorrow.

what can i do ? is a payout an option as I'm really HATING to have no car again if they are going to have to make corrections again

I stopped at a yield sign in order to yield to another vehicle. I was then hit from behind. The man claimed he could not find his insurance information but did write down all of his correct personal information, liscense and plate numbers. He contacted me and said his insurance is no longer valid but that he is willing to pay for damages. Do I still need to report damage to my insurance company? Should I get a lawyer? There was no police report filed. please any advice is appreciated.

I have my name and my brother's name on a car title. he lives in ny and i live in ct. I have ct lices and he has ny lices.I perfer him to insure the car because he is older then me, Can i register the car in ct under my name? I was recently involved in a minor fender bender - the guy in front of me stopped suddenly and I slid right into him when I put on my brakes (ice on the road). I understand that my coverage will cover the person's car I ran into, but what about my car? I realize than plans range considerably, but I'm looking for what happens generally in this situation.

When I renew my registration, I go to AAA for faster service, but, the clerk gave me the sticker almost with her eyes closed, meaning it didn't look like she checked my record, does anyone know how they work for sure?
I need to know because this year I'm very late with renewing my tags/registration, I'm paying it tomorrow though.

Long story short - The individual in question caused a traffic accident which destroyed my vehicle. He provided a valid California Driver's License and insurance information to the police at the accident scene which had lapsed over nine months prior, and therefore was driving uninsured. I have heard from someone that it's possible to file something with the California DMV informing them that this individual caused an accident while driving without insurance, and the DMV subsiquently penalizes the driver. Does anyone know if this is true, or what the process is to report it?

I hit a parked car when I was driving my mom's car, and we didn't want to go through insurance, but they called not wanting to get an estimate because they do not plan on fixing it and wanted me just to pay them $1000.
