I recently parked my car not knowing that I went over the curb. When I backed it up I obviously felt it. I looked at the front and it looks like it pulled off part of the under carriage (plastic bumper part below?) It looks like it will just clip back in but I can't get it to. Any ideas on how much it would cost to fix/replace that thing?

I'm considering buying an early model VW beetle. I was wondering if they produced one with an automatic transmission at that time. And how much it would cost to get an auto transmission for one. Thanks.

A friend of mine bought a 2001 Golf GTi, and he has had nothing but problems with it, however I have personally enjoyed VW since I was eight, but I do not want a car that will break down on me once a month. so are Mk IV Golf's Reliable? What about MK V Golf/Rabbits?

I am trying to deduce if the car has trouble getting into second gear and does not want to move forward. I purchased a shifter rod coupling but the engine is removed so I do not know if that was the problem. Since everything is out I was going to replace clutch pressure plate flywheel rear main seal but should I just buy a new transmission, anyway. It is the original one. If so where can I purchase one? Maybe I need a motor? Everything is original with about 200,000 miles.

I can't find hardly any VW Bugs/SuperBeetles for a good price in my new city, but in my old city of Seattle, there are tons of them for sale for really good prices. I live about 1,400 miles away now. I was thinking of flying up there and buying one that is advertised as a "solid daily driver". But I wonder if I could drive it all the way here.

I guess it would be fun to find out... but curious if anyone else has driven one of these old cars very far before.

No lights are on.
Faint ticking noise, but that could be because it's shaking.
VIOLENTLY bouncing, enough to make my butt fall asleep.
Only happens when speed is 55+mph, and not when accelerating, just when at a constant speed.
Tires are decent, no wear, not bald.

I just swaped engines in this car and all seems fine except for one thing the cooling fans are constantly on even when its not running thus eating up the battery. Also my temp gauge in the car does not give any reading while its on. If anyone can help please answer this im lost.

I have 2 of them and going to purchase another one soon. I love my bugs, they are awesome. I am looking for some Ladybug floormats for them. Also on one of them my son is going to paint a ladybug on the hood.. Would like to see how many of you have a beetle.

The GLS is the 1.8L, and if I recall the manual mentions either premium or regular works, but premium is better. By premium, does it mean PREMIUM premium i.e. 93 octane, or unleaded plus, which is 89 octane, as opposed to the 87 octane regular. I have actually heard that 91 octane is available in some areas and that this it he preferred, but that was just word-of-mouth and 91 is not available in my area.
