My 2006 VW Jetta GLI has an electronic device (governor?) that limits it to a top speed of 130m/hr instead of its capability of 180m/hr. How and where do I remove/fix this situation?

i'm not 100% sure on this for a MKV, but when you install a chip, it usualy removes or raises the speed govenor and rev limiter.

it doesnt say for sure on APR's website, but check it out:
http://www.goapr.com/VW/products/ecu_upgrade_mkvjetta.html

it does make a bunch of promises about more power and such, and there is nothing wrong with that!

you can also search the forums at www.vwvortex.com ...i'm sure there is something there

Just because the numbers are there does not mean it can do it. Besides, I bet you will find that"electronic device" is limiting the RPM so you don't "blow up the motor". In other words stick it in a lower gear and see it you can max out that gear or is there something stopping it from going faster? The govenor. I have one in my car which seems to be related to the speed of the fuel injection pump has reached its limit. And mine is not an electrical control, it just can't go that fast mechanically without "coming undone" so to speak. The company that makes the fuel injector probably said...this is how fast our unit is good for. Any faster and it will break.
Everything has a limit.

If it is a bad cylinder, and the dealership wants to replace it, let them. Fighting for a new engine now won't do you any good until they've tried the cheaper fix. IF they replace it and you continue having problems, you have a better chance of getting the dealership to replace what you want (a dealership will always only go for the cheapest fix at first and if you want something else, they'll, in many cases, either refuse to do it, or say they'll do it but you have to pay for it). If you have problems after the cylinder is fixed, I would think about reporting the car as a lemon, with only having 10,000 miles, you shouldn't need a new engine already

This is programmed into the PCM. You need a 2,000.00 piece of equipment.
Is your name Dale Jr or something. Why would you need to go 180 on any highway.....death wish....Get a pilot's license. I don't have a death wish so stay away from me.
