I was always under the impression that the Pontiac trans AM was the halo sports car for GM. exceedingly shadowing the camaro. I then fully understood that the two consist the same basics as far as engines and designs go.So now....keeping that in mind, Which production model is the more potent overall???

I bought a 67 Chevelle SS 396 a few weeks ago. Now I want to register in NY, but the inspection requirements for NY State include a requirement for seatbelts in each seating position (Model years 1967 and 1968 - two front seat belts are required (driver position included), and one seat belt is required for each seating position elsewhere in the vehicle. )
My car has no seat belts. Were seat belts an option in 1967, or did someone remove them when the car was restored a few years ago and just not put them back?
Thanks.

I'm considering purchasing a 1970 SS Chevelle, however it has the rectangular speedometer, typical Malibu-not SS, and the owner is telling me that "some" SSls came from the factory like this... the car has all the other SS indicators... 12-bolt, big block, all emblems, interior, steering wheel, floor console, buckets, sway bar, fuel line on wheel well-factory clearance for big block, front disc brakes... I'm told you really cannot identify a true SS by the VIN number.... can anyone confirm this on the dash please?

Two years ago i had an '87 Chevy Caprice with a 4.3 liter v6. It had NO options except a cd player which i installed myself. The car got 18 mpg...which is what i really miss. My new truck gets 12. Not to mention, the caprice seemed bulletproof, except for the tranny, which is why i sold it. Can anybody console me?

My check engine light is on. I asked another question about why the light might be on (which, PLEASE answer that one if you have any ideas- I need your help really bad) and one of the answers was to take it to the dealer and have them plug something into the van's computer and it would say why the light is on. I was hoping someone knew if they would charge me for this. Thank you!

I purchased it 3 weeks ago. 107K mile, very clean (motor wise) Last week i got in it and it wouldn't start. It sputtered, but wouldn't start. my dad said it sounded like it had bad gas, so (it was nearly empty) i put some Heet in it and filled it up at a different station. It did it again today, wouldn't start, then wouldn't stay running. Any ideas on what it could be?

The engine (350) isn't running but I'm pretty sure it's an easy fix that I can do myself. The transmission and transfer case are probably bad too and to have them rebuilt will be about $1000 apiece. (Though I think I can rebuild the transfer case myself) The truck is in decent condition, it has a 4 inch lift (body though), a big grille guard with 4 8" KC lights on it, and some aftermarket rims with 33" Buckshots. I was thinking that even if it's not worth fixing that I can take the parts for my current 2wd truck and resell it for $500. Do you think it's worth it?

Which has a quicker jump from a start and which has the highest RPM ability. I had a 250 or a 290 truck, in line 6, with a 3 speed ( I don't remember which) in my Chevy ll When i was younger and I always out ran 305's and some 350's (all stock in the late 80's.) I always thought an in line 6 had more GO-GO power..than the small v-8's The problem is I have seen what a stock 350 will do to a 62 Chevy ll. Breaks most everything including twisting the frame. I just want some eye catching power but I'm not going to be racing John Force. If you know what I mean.. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.. Thanks
I will be using a 2 sp powerglide transmission with this engine, and 411 rear.
