I have 400cid pistons, rods, and crank. Can all these be used to make a 383 stroker if the 350 block is bored?

You can do it two different ways. Use the 400 crank and rods along with 350 pistons, or use the 400 crank, 350 rods, and custom 383 pistons which have a higher wrist pin location, this is the one I'd build personally. The main journals on the 400 crank have to be turned in either application because the 400 has a larger main journal diameter than the 350.

Yes you can as this is how ya get toa 383 ci displacement You will have to have a little machining done for the crank to fit if I remember right. I have had a 383ci. in my 1969 Chevy pickup since 1991 along with a Crowler stage 2 cam.30 over 11-1 comp. 350 pistons,202 stainless steel valves with Z28 302 valve springs and a 750 Holley double pumper and a rev kit in the distributor and you will be impressed at the torque an hp.A brand new Dodge Hemi came around me at full throttle ,I was in 2nd gear and floored it and blew his doors off!!! And I only had a 3 spd

The piston size of a 383 is 4.030 x 3.75 stroke. The pistons in a 400 small block is 4.125. Of course 6 - 6.250 length rods would be better. Less side thrust on cylinder walls. Flat top pistons with small combustion chamber cylinder heads give you the best flame travel.

lol. thats what a 383 is. its a 350 block with 400 guts. thats why its called a stroker. It has a short stroke and a big bang. if you are going to spray it you should use forged crank, rods and pistons.

you will only need the 400 crank, 5.7 (350) rods and special pistons. A 400 harmonic balancer and flexplate. Also some pretty decent flowing heads and a hot cam.

383's gives poetry and mystery to a very difficult buildup. Best to leave this assembly to competant-practiced hands.454 small blocks involve the same amount of accumine. If a couple of grand more does'nt make you blink then go for the 454.
