I own a 1987 Chevy 2wd custom deluxe. I'm wanting to put some nice mags and tires on the truck and i want to widen the stance of the truck. what would be a good size of tires and rims to put on the truck to get these results?

You can go with either 18s or 20s I would go for the 18s but make sure they dont stick out past your fenders. And a good tire size is 255/55/18. That way they are still considered low profile but you still have alot of tire to protect your wheels. Anything bigger that 20s you are going to start messy with specifications of the vehicle.

to widen is to go wider i have a two wheel drive ford and i run a rim size of 15x10 with a 275/60/15 tire these combos come in a lot of stiles also aren't as costly as 18s/22s

I say 17's or 18's...Chrome rims..Torq Thrusts would be interesting but as far as tires...255 up front...maybe 275 or 295 outback....give it a modern hot rod feel...please don't go over 18 inches..it will ruin the look...get a nice metallic paint job...a bedliner...and you're good to go

You could 22 it all the way. Personally, with a ride like that, I'd 22x10 or more the rear and 20x 9.5 the front. You're going to have to see what YOU like as far as the tire goes. Your personal preference one ride and feel will have to determine exactly what you are looking for.

never fool with brakes and tires.. your life depends on them.
if you change the wheel size, to a 18" or bigger, you'd better consult a specialty shop because you'll need larger brakes. beware of the offset of the wheel (making them stick out past the wheel well) as you can cause premature tire and suspension wear.
