Car Makes - November 2006

I have a 1988 S10 4X4 4.3L V6. The entire fuel system is brand new, but this truck only starts when it wants to. I've dropped the tank, check connections and taped up wires. But still this truck only starts occasionally. New parts are as follows--fuel pump-fuel sensor relay-filter-injectors. Sometimes I hear the pump kick on, sometimes I don't. When I dropped the tank to check wires, it started, after I re-mounted the tank, it started and drove. When I let it sit awhile it won't start. Please help, this is driving me crazy.

I have searched Hayes and Chilton and only found books for rear wheel drive lincolns, but nothing for the front wheel drive. Any help would be appreciated.

They might be called mini autosleepers, or mini motor caravans, I'm not sure but I know there are some. I've been thinking of buying one so would like to know if they are worth considering as I don't want anything huge and uneconomical.

i have a 76 chevy that i dropped in a 454 BB but the torque converter doesn't bolt up to the flywheel and it has a 350 turbo transmission. the motor that was in it before was a 350 SB but im going to get a torque converter for the 454 but i was wondering if the transmission would have to be change too or will it work with the 454? I heard that the motor would shred the transmission almost right away, but the source is not that reliable.

VIN says its a 267 but my father claims 350. I got K11 14CDD off of the passenger side front of block - below it was a number. Can it be identified by that above code? or do i need to get the numbers below it? Anyone with any 267 experience would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

I just replaced the heater core on my truck. The day after I was almost forced into a accident causing me to jam on my brakes. Since then when I accelerate in 1st, 2nd, or 3rd at the top of the gear/rpm I can hear a hum which I believe to be coming from the center of the engine, I can't really tell though obviously because I'm driving when this noise occurs. So being that it stops humming when I up shift I thought maybe the transmission fluid was low or something. That would bring me to this silly qeustion of where is the dip stick and/or resevoir for the transmission fluid. I looked in the normal places it would be and magically it is nowhere to be found. So if there is a knowledgeble soul out there please help soon

I have a 454 big block that i just dropped into my 76 chevy 4x4. The torque converter that i have wont bolt up to the flywheel and i just got the motor finished where i could start it but i heard somewhere that i could break the crankshaft if i start it without the torque converter bolted up. Is that true or can i start it but not rev it to much or is it just a myth?
