VIN says its a 267 but my father claims 350. I got K11 14CDD off of the passenger side front of block - below it was a number. Can it be identified by that above code? or do i need to get the numbers below it? Anyone with any 267 experience would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Yes according to the VIN plate it was a 267 it is a 1980 malibu classic sport coupe. Its a V8 small block. Right now i have the intake removed and ready to take off the heads and send them to the machine shop. The car received a small block kit back in '88 and my dad told me it was a 350. Thats why i need to know if the code on the front passenger side head is the identifying code. It is K11 14CDD and directly below that is a string of numbers. Do i need both number sets?

If this is the original engine and it's a two barrel carb, it's a 267. If the fifth position on your VIN is J the car had a 267 from the factory. It was also known as the 4.4 and is not a common engine. If the fifth VIN position is an H and has a 4 barrel carb, it's a 305. No gas 350 offered from the factory in 1980. I had a 267 in an 82 Caprice. Under powered but reliable. It had 265,000 miles on when I sold it Spring of 2004. If the engine has been replaced over the years, see http://www.mortec.com/location.htm to see what numbers to look for and where to find them.

The cdd code is a valid 267 block code . The 267 looks like a 350 externally . The 350 has a 4.00 bore and the 267 has a 3.50 bore. The 267 was used from 79 to 82 but dropped because of poor performance

Is this an inline 6 engine or V-8?
Don't think chevy made the 267 in 1980, maybe a 307.

The engine identification is stamped on the block. I have yet to find a chevy block not stamped! There's no such motor in 1980 as a 267!
