I have a 1988 S10 4X4 4.3L V6. The entire fuel system is brand new, but this truck only starts when it wants to. I've dropped the tank, check connections and taped up wires. But still this truck only starts occasionally. New parts are as follows--fuel pump-fuel sensor relay-filter-injectors. Sometimes I hear the pump kick on, sometimes I don't. When I dropped the tank to check wires, it started, after I re-mounted the tank, it started and drove. When I let it sit awhile it won't start. Please help, this is driving me crazy.

there is a strong posssibility that some clown has dropped a marble in your gas tank. when this happens the marble will roal around and sometimes plug the gasoline outlet as a valve will do in your case do blow out your gasoline line when it won,t start. some expierementation should 'diagnose this problem and resolve it yremoving the gas tank and shaking foreign object out

you should change wire harnest that plugs into the top of the gas tank the plug probly not making a good connection and you can also try changing the piece that the pump connects to those pipes that run down through the flat metal piece could broke and is causing a air leak you can check this by dropping the tank and wiggle the pipes that you lines are hook to and if they move then you need to replace that piece

check wiring connectors from relay to pump/there may be related ecm connector under drivers carpet on left cab wall/also check your connector at tank because these terminals will spread apart but still look ok/tighten all connections and trace all wiring visually and i bet you will find your problem
