OK, so I have an Alpine MRP-M850 (rated at 800W at 2ohms) that I will be using to push a Kicker CVR12 (max: 800W rms:400W).

My question is what gauge power and ground cable should I use to wire it all up? Also what size fuse should I use (the emphasis on the fuse being to protect my car and my equipment, obviously I would rather replace a fuse and have to turn down my gain than blow my amp or worse burn down my car)?

In my old car I had it hooked up with 10ga over 15ft, with a 30amp fuse. I was fully aware of what I was doing at the time and the gain on the amp has never been higher that 30% for safety's sake. But I've got a new car and it's finally time for me to crank up my amp and see what she can do.

Anyone who has seen the trunk of a '02 impala knows it's rather large, I was first going to atempt 15" Solo-Baric Kicker subs but was told that there would not be enough air space for them to vent properly, so I was wondering would 12" Solo-Baric Kicker subs work better or at all?
Thank you for your answers to anyone who can be of assistance.

I plan to simply replace my factory speakers with some good component speakers and a 4-channel amplifier. I don't like exaggerated bass, so would I still need subwoofers?

on a car speaker, there is a large(1/4") and a small(<1/8") spade fitting.
the small one is positive, right? there is no + mark on the speaker.

Home receivers have a THD rating that shows how much distortion they have.
Is there any similar rating for car speakers to show how accurate they are?
If there isnt, what is a good way to select speakers, either in a store or online.
thanks
