I live in a rural village surrounded by flooded fords, acres of surface water and crumbling lanes (you would not believe the pot holes!) so I need a vehicle that gets me up off the ground. I've been told to avoid the Freelander, have now had a bad report on the Nissan X-Trail and am now considering the Honda CR-V. Is this a good reliable car? I want something as economical as poss (I know 4x4 are not as economical as cars). Anyone got any ideas?

My budget is between $25k-$30k and I'm looking for any used high-performance/luxury car. I don't care if it's too old, just past 1988 at least and up until 2006 would be perfect but then, it wouldn't be a good car... I'm looking for something similar or better in performance/specs/reputation for a 1999 E430 Mercedes-Benz which I already own (0-62mph 6.8'ish sec+295hp+all-leather int+Bose sound system). The 2001 BMW 740i or 1996 SL600 or 1995 Porsche Carrera are all great examples. For their time period, they were very high-end cars and I'm betting are still better than your average 2007 Infiniti and what not in this price range. So any suggestions?

I'm about to buy a car, and go on long road trips. I need something with the size of a SUV, wagon, or crossover...etc. But, I don't want to be refilling every time I see a gas station. Over 20 MPG would be great. Please provide proof of this figure.

Ok, here's the deal. I just bought a low-mileage 98 Mazda pickup about 2 weeks ago and got it financed for 3 years at $197.00 a month. This is the first big purchase/loan that I've ever had put on my credit.

I have enough money in my checking account to pay if off right now, but I had it financed so I could finally build some credit. With that said, my question is this. Would it look better to pay it off say next month or stretch it out over a couple of months? I'm asking because I'm already not very happy with this truck.

The car was preowned and the financing went through, except now, after 25 days of having the car I tell them that there is a transmission problem with it. They took the car back. The lady told us (while we were at a different dealership, so it is recorded) that we should just come in and they will give us our money back. We put $1,000 down. We took the car back and asked for our money. Now keep in mind the lady told us just bring the car in and we get our money back. Well, when we got in there they said they were keeping $750 of the downpayment for usage of the car, because we had it for 25 days. We didn't bring the car back because we didn't like the color or decided we wanted a different kind of car, we brought it back because there was a problem with it. Because she told me (and it is recorded) that we could bring the car in and get our money back, does this give me a case against them to get the whole downpayment back? There's a lemon law here, but don't know how it work

What do you think of Carmax for buy a used car? There slogan is "The way car buying should be." I went and test-drove a car today. There is less pressure to buy from their salespeople than going to a regular car lot. Yet, I still got the feeling that they so try and steer you into buying. They do want you to buy right after the test drive. Overall, dealing with them was positive, but I was surprised that their offer to buy my used car I felt was about $1000 less than the Kelly Blue Book value (hmmm..no sales tactics?).
