You would check the first digit of the VIN, which will let you know the country of origin.

If it begins with a J, it was made in Japan.

because the small fuel efficiant cars have a serious lack of capacity. they do not haul enough material to a job there is no way to put a ladder or any other large piece of equiptment in them they fit nicely on my car trailer but won't pull it. the little cars are fine for a second family vehicle or use by a student or some one that only needs to drive back and forth to a office job. I drive a pick up so that i can do the things that I have to get done without making multiple trips to move stuff. and i do not drive with the truck empty ofton enough to justify the purchase of another vehicle as it would add more expense thn it would save in fuel. if the little car does what you need i wont bother you about what you drive so let that work both ways.

It's not that simple anymore. The VIN number that starts with J only means it was ASSEMBLED in Japan. Components come from all over the world.
