Have been having problems with flickering lights (dash / headlights / interior lights) and lumpy performance through the revs.

Checked voltage in Battery (which I recently replaced) and it's 12.5 volts with engine off, and 14.4 v engine on.

If I turn everything on (all lights + main beams + a/c + heated front/rear screens + radio + blower), then voltage across battery reads 12.1->12.3 volts, if I rev engine it has negligible effect to the V.

However, if I turn say two thirds of the above list, then at 2000-2500 revs it does increase upto @13.5 / 14v.

I also just tried running the engine and removing the negative at the battery terminal - and the engine continued to run OK. With the negative still off I then turned just the A/C on, the car began to splutter, lights dimmed and was about to stall, at which point I quickly turned A/C off, the engine still ran but was struggling; at which point I turned engine off completely.

Dodgy Alternator?

long story short my hubby got in a small fender bender with a big a*s truck and my car is very small. I did not have insurance on it at the time and now the other persons insurance company is comin to me for payment. I've emailed the pictures of both vehicles to the kids agent to show to her that there was only damage to my taillight but never heard back so now I am mailing the pictures to her. What I want to know is if I request a investigation to be done ( because I know the other party is trying to get my to pay for damage that doesn't exist or he didn't do) do I have to pay for it? Also there wasn't a police report filed so doesn't that mean they cannot file a claim with their insurance company? The accident happened in Iowa and the other driver lives there too.

Thanks for all your help ahead of time.

When driving on the M40 and M6 in recent months I noticed that most drivers ignored the speed limit by a big margin.
Given that the law in a democracy is based on consent where is the consent to speed limits when they are disobeyed?

I've had continuous problems with the coolant in my Dodge Ram. I've checked multiple times and cannot find a hose leak or how/when I lose all coolant. However, I'm continously running on little or no coolant yet never overheat nor do I have a check engine light on. There have been times when my coolant container has been bone dry!

Suggestions?

I have a 2000 Dodge Durango with a V8 5.9 liter engine. The truck starts and then dies when I let my foot off of the gas. Any ideas? It has a full tank of gas and all fluids are full and a somewhat new battery. Please ANY and ALL ideas are greatly appreciated. I can't get to work because I can't get the truck outta the driveway.

Thanks in advance....

I drive a 2001 VW Beetle that is nearly 100,000 miles old. When I went for my safety inspection, there was a problem with one of my wheels having too much play in it because of a tie-rod. The problem wasn't bad enough for my car to fail inspection & they didn't offer to fix it then. Does that mean that it is safe enough to drive for a while?

Steering feels normal, but every now & then when I make a sharp left turn (like 90 degrees @ intersection), it feels like one of my tires turns more than the other, kind of like slipping on ice only roads are dry. One time it happened when I was going faster, it felt really bumpy & made a thumping noise, but the other times it didn't. Do I need to get this fixed ASAP, or is it ok to wait a while if I just remember to go slow when turning left? It passed inspection so it ought to be safe enough, right?

Would this effect on gas mileage? I drive a TDI with a manual transmission (gets 50+ mpg) but I haven't gotten that lately.

Hello i have a 1984 BMWs with a M10. The car was lagging so i replaced one hose and fuel filter and it fixed the problem running really great. This morning going to work it wouldn't go past 2000 rpm it would surge and thunk at 2k would not go above. So I moved the hose around and it went past 2k well but it started doing it on and off. The hose is slightly longer then the original. Conning output of the fuel filter so some metal thing that connects to the line. Could that be clogged the metal thing or is hose to long. I dont think its the fuel pump.
replaced the hose that comes out of the fuel filter. Gas flows out. Same size hose just a bit longer. Same size opening too. no tight bends just a curve. Should I shorten it?
