It's okay after 5 minutes but I live in an area where I could get into trouble for it by the way it's a UK 56 plate.

It's a lovely little run about able to reach a speed of 55kph (40mph) still with the restrictors on it.
Could it b cos it's cold or something else advice please

Thanks for that I wouldn't mind but the one I'm using is actually in the manual I will switch to a different one but will try and obtain yours if it's synthetic based
The oil is in a separate bottle from the petrol mixes underneath in an automatic mixer. might b overdoing the top up?

nothin to worry bout. it's a 2stroke, they all smoke, and more so before they git warmed up. and unless your fillin the road with smoke you'll not get pulled for it.

First, since your bike is air cooled, I'm going to have to say that is oil smoke. If you saw white coolant smoke, I bet you would say your smoke is blue or grey by comparison. As for your problem, it sounds like a holed piston, or maybe a broken ring. Don't keep running it, you will pump all the oil out and wreck the bottom end, too. Shine flashlight down the spark plug hole, and maybe you will be able to see the hole in the piston. Why? Who knows? Obviously it got too hot. Usually it's an ignition issue like too much spark advance or gas with too low an octane rating. It could be a lean condition caused by a partially blocked main jet. Since you have been riding the bike, you may have been aware of telltale symptoms without realizing it, like pinging, or an uncharacteristic lean surge. If it's a broken ring, the cause may be harder to figure out. You may not be able to pin it down even if you strip the motor. Either way, the engine can probably be rebuilt. You first need to be sure you have all the broken bits out of the crankcase. They may come out when you drain the oil, if you are lucky, but you might have to split the cases to be sure. Make sure there is nothing stuck in a valve, too. Replace the pistons as a pair. A broken ring may have damaged the bore, meaning an oversize piston. Don't buy parts until you have examined and measured the bores.

Most engines give off more visible smoke when cold, which disappears once warmed up. My bike does it, so does my car. It shouldn't be a problem. As long as your scooter meets the legal standards for emissions, is taxed and insured and ridden legally, there should be no way you can get into any trouble over it.

Because when the engine is cold, piston rings, being made of metal alloys, contract. This leaves a slight gap between the cylinder wall and the rings, which allows a little bit of oil to get into the combustion chamber resulting in smoke. As the engine warms up, the metal alloys expand, filling the gap and preventing further oil from getting into the combustion chamber.

It's the oil. Try a different one. Do you have to mix yours with the gas like a moped? My BF and his brother in law were just discussing that the other day and it is definitely the oil. I'll go look and find out the one they're using now cuz they were both impressed with the lack of smoke it made. I'll email you the name of it when I find it!

If you've ever been disillusioned into thinking that there's nothing you can do to prevent premature ejaculation and that it's just something "you're born with" or "can't do anything about" then hopefully this will change your mind and inspire you https://tr.im/K2DQ5

Because the truth is that there are many ways to prevent premature ejaculation, and being able to last longer in bed is something that lies within your control.

Hi there!

The reason your car when cold expelles smoke - it must be white - it's due to the oil that is burnt inside the cylinders. This is normal and nothing be worried about =)

if its doing it in the mornings just recently its probably steam because the air is cold. like your breath water gathers in the exhaust until warm and evapourates inside when hot. it will be white smoke.
White smoke is water
Blue smoke is oil burning
Black smoke is excess fuel

Hi Mandy,,

Yes,,in the scenario you describe it's certainly the oil.

That's one of the "problems" with 2 strokes engines which is nearly impossible to "engineer OUT" and tends to condemn them due to exhaust emmisions.

Here's what happens,,,,and why it's "The Oil" and not anything mechanical.

As You know,,,the engine Consumes Oil,,,it burns it with the fuel.

Whether the oil is Pre-Mixed with the Fuel,,,
Or Oil-Injected directly from a separate oil tank......
It all goes thru the Crankcase of the engine,,,
where it is then Pumped up into engine's Cylinder/Combustion Chamber as Fuel/Air/Oil Intake Mixture.

So everything in the crankcase is Coated with Oil & Fuel as the engine runs.

When you shut down the engine,,,,
The FUEL vapours in the crankcase Evaporate.
Leaving a Film of Oil on EVERYTHING.

That Gradually "puddles" from effects of Gravity,,,
While Also Leaving a Thin Film on everything.

Then,,,all the parts and surfaces get COLD.

So at that point,,,You've got:
A Standing Puddle of Oil.
A Film coating every square cm,
And Cold Surfaces for it to all cling to,,,while giving a path for Operating Heat to dissipate as engine tries to rise to Operating Temps.

It amounts to EXCESS OIL which is Dense/Thick,,,,NOT mixed with Fuel,,,,,,and it Temp Rise RATE is being dampened by the relatively Cold engine surfaces.

Result is that it takes TIME for that Excess Oil to "melt",Blend, and be transferred OUT.

It happens GRADUALLY,,,,so for several minutes it ADDS to the Fresh,Proper Volume of Oil being introduced.

There's No practical way to Avoid the Residual Oil accumulation upon shutdown.

Some even Doesnt Burn,,,and goes into EXHAUST SYSTEM.

So even after Engine has Cleaned-Up itself of the excess oil,,,
The Exhaust Temp begins to rise by then,,,,,and the Oil accumulated in There begins to smoke.

Engine quits smoking,,,Exhaust Starts Smoking.
Eventually that too is depleted,,,and the smoking ceases.

It's real simple how it all happens,,,
but What to Do about it has been VERY ELUSIVE.

As it stands,,,the Only Solution is "Smokeless Oil"
Cant do anything about the Oil being present.
But we CAN do something about the Smoke produced by the oil.

The Only Smokeless oils are Synthetics,
and the Least Smokey are all Synthetics.
The BEST Smokless Oil is Synthetic.

So,,,You have a Wide Variety of Choices,,,LOL
The Only Smokeless Ones,,The Least Smokey Ones,,and the Best Smokless ones.

Belray Brand is arguably Best 2 Cycle Oil available overall.
It's Also the Best Smokless.
I think it may even be "the original" Smokless.

It's a bit Pricey,,but not terrible like some other are.

It will solve the smoke problem,,,
and to further warrant it's expense you'll get as good of Engine Protection/Wear etc as any oil availble,,,way better than most.
MIGHT gain a bit of Performance.
It's the COOLEST running 2 stoke oil.
And it produces the Least Carbon buidup of any 2stroke oil.
Also very easy on Spark Plugs.

You can also adjust Oil Pump down to it's bare minimum settings.
It's Safe and 100% Effective Lubrication at a Ratio Far Lower than any oil injection pump will go.

**I hate to even mention this----some people even Dilute it with Gasoline IN the Oil Tank by a small amount.
That's TRICKY,,,,and for a wide variety of reasons I DO NOT reccomend anyone doing that.
Only reason I mention it at all is to underscore the point that it's Effective at extremely sparse ratios,,,,therefore No Worries about setting Injection Pump as low as possible.

Which will minimise Both Smoke potential,,,and oil expense,,all at No Risk to engine.

So especially over Longer Term of Daily Use,,,all the small advantages really do total-up to offset the increased purchase price.

***It also Smells "nice",,,sort of like a bath soap.
Some oils' scent is horrible,,or even irritating
.....................................
One "Trick" to help clean out carbon/gummy oil etc particularly from exhaust is to TRICKLE water into carb's air intake.

*Remove air filter
*Run engine about Half Throttle,,,fairly high speed
*SLOWLY trickle/drizzle a SMALL amount of water into Carb Intake

--you can use a spray bottle,,like from Window Cleaner,,etc.
Or drizzle itt from a teaspoon.

TOO BIG a Gulp Can EASILY Damage Engine,BADLY.
That Must be avoided at all costs.
A Little care used in feeding it the water is an effective precaution.

That procedure is Cheapest,Easiest,Simplest,QUICKEST and most effective way to get RESIDUAL Oil and Oil Tar Out of the Exhaust System.

Otherwise,,,even after changing to a Smokless Synthetic Oil,,,it may take Many Days to deplete whats "old oil" is already accumulated in the exhaust

If You DO switch oils,,,and Do want the smoke to Stop PROMPTLY,,,,,consider feeding it the water while running.
If You are Careful,,it's perfectly safe.

It will eliminate the "2nd Stage Smoke" from inside the Exhaust pipe itself almost Immediately.

One Downside of the Water Torture,,,it beats up on spark plugs pretty bad sometimes.
Not unusual to need a new spark plug afterwards.

....
A final Small Point that can help minimize smoking upon start-up.
Spark Plug Choice.
2 Stroke engines are particularly prone to MisFiring when Cold and 1st started.
It may be near imperceptible,,,but they DONT fire 100%.
Each miss,,,even if its only 1 outa a 100 sparks,,,,is RAW Fuel and Oil going into Pipe.

The new NGK Iridium Plugs are about 3X the Price of "standard plugs",,,,but are worth the expense in terms of reducing cold start emmissions.
They start better, run better,,and are perhaps the only plugs with enough Technical Differences to show any worthwhile improvement in plug life.

In MOST engines they show a noticeable improvement.
But frankly,,,not ALL engines do.
The LESS ideal an engine's design/state of tune/and overall condition,,the better improvement the plugs will show.
A realy SHARP motor wont have much to gain.

........................
Simple Answer,,,Switch to Synthetic Oil.
That is probably the "Only " Answer.
I highly recommend Belray,,,especially for situations like Yours.

The Water Cleaning,,,that's up to You.
If You find after switch that the Smoke continues---especially if it seems to get worse as engine/EXHAUST begins to warm up,,,,,
DO seriously consider the water treatment,,but DO BE CAREFUL using it.

NGK Iridium Plugs are just nice,,,only way You'll ever Know if they're worthwhile for YOU and YOUR Bike,,,is to Try one.
Might be "just another plug, same as any",,or Ya Might see a differnce??

Good Luck with it,,,Im sure you can get it under control with no heroic effort or great expense.
