My brother needs me to fix his suv. He said the rear axle seals are bad. Are they hard to do? I have alot of tools but are there any special tools that I will need? I know alot about cars but when it comes to rear end work I have not gone there. Any help would be great!!

With radiator cap off, the water should not ever boil, nor should it ever bubble violently out of the radiator should it. Is this a thermostat problem, or a head gasket?

I rear ended a car last friday and from what i saw and from what the cops told me is that the damage is worse(the front of the car is completely messed up,no bumper and engine was hit and totally out of shape).
I am hoping they would total my car, its a 2001 nissan altima
i got 2 questions now:
.in my accident report ,it was stated that estimated damage is 2000 and the car is drivable. My car wasn even close to drivable and they had to tow it to a yard and the damage is definitely over 2000, i am calling the officer who wrote down the report for clarification but unable to reach him.I need to fix this soon ,if at all he could write the real scenario there.
2.I am having sleepless nights thinking they might repair my car and give it to me. I crashed into a 2006 BMW :( and he hardly had any damage on his rear but his estmiated damage was mentioned as 4000 in the accident report.
Shoud i call the officer and get the report revised?Is it possible?
On what cirumstances would the insurance comapny total my car??
Please please advice. I badly need some realisitic prediction,i have just started earning and i dont have much money to take of this.

PS: no DUI, road was wet n it was raining heavily. So i am pretty much clear on those aspects and i got full insurance coverage.

Ok i had an accident and in a 2001 Lincoln towncar signature series around 120,000 miles and in exellent condition..

the damaged is all front i will need new fenders, hood, lights, grill, bumper etc and im afraid i have done some frame damage so is it worth fixing the car now ??? will it be the same after they fix it ?

She was having a seizure. The police came to the scene of the accident and took a report. She was taken to the hospital immediately after. THE PROBLEM IS, I HAVEN'T HEARD ANYTHING FROM THE WOMAN or her insurance. How can I make her pay for the damages to my car? I'm not a litigious person, I don't want to sue her. I just want her to fix my car. There is probably about $300 or $400 dollars worth of damages. What should I do?

I have an 06' Liberty, Strawberry Red, with a lift, aftermarket wheels & tires, LOADED. Only 19,000 miles on it, perfect condition. I've been trying to sell it for about 5 months, in an area where LOTS of people drive 4x4's. I have it priced $ 2,000 below LOW book, and not 1 call. I've advertised on the web, paper, have signs on it, etc. Is there some bad scuttlebutt out there about Libertys that I haven't heard ? The consumer reports all say it's a good vehicle & it's held it's value really well... I'm stumped !

My car has hydraulic tappets. After doing repair work to the cylinder head, do I need to empty the oil out of the tappets before replacing them? The last thing I need is a piston with a valve-sized hole in the top.

Whenever i put my air conditioning on in my car (2002 Chevy Cavalier) and the oil temp is above 90 and the car is in first gear, (automatic transmisson) it causes the car to accelerate. I actually have to hold the brake to keep the car from rear ending other cars. Any ideas?

It got worse because i had to use smaller tires, out of necessity. So there was a lot of pumping up and a lot of air release at the end of the day. Everything worked ok till this morning (3months from the tires being put on) and now nothing is pumping up. I did not run over anything or scrape anything that i can recall....although someone says there is a switch under the car related to the air compression? The lincon dealership scared the crap out of me and said diagnostic was $185, but that compressors are $400 and they easily do work on lots of peoples lincolns that run into the thousands on suspension systems...and i went outside and cried on the hood of my car afterwards....
Even before i spend money; isnt there something i can do? If a compressor valve is stuck, for example - is there a way to unstick it? Maybe myself???? I can't get to work...been fired twice this month by picky temp agencies......not a lot of money left!!! HELLLPPP!

Okay, I have we have had different mechanics looks at this vehicle and could not give us a answer. The distributor, wires, and spark plugs are fine. The fuel injection is fine. The thermostat is fine. The battery is almost new. It always starts up fine and drives perfectly until I reach a certain distance, then all of a sudden it quits. If I wait for about 30-45 minutes it starts up fine again. What do you think it is. Alternator or catalytic converter? By the the way the check engine light has been coming on.

A car rear-bumped me, and now my car has a 1.5 inch dent and scratches. My insurance company adjuster determined that it was my fault, and it will only pay for the fixing of it (about $1,200) However, I want the entire bumper replaced and original Mercedes part instead. Can I argue with my insurance company ? or I have no merit.

Does any one have a 2002 or newer Chrysler Town and COuntry or a Dodge caravan that has plugged vents making the condensation leak into the car on the passanger side. Recently my car has been expieriencing these problem and Chrysler said this isn't a design defect. I was just wondering if anyone else was expieriencing this design defect.

okay, last december 2005 I was involved in a minor car accident due to weather conditions, and I had to pay my auto insurance company a "500 deductible" to repair the damages that I made to my vehicle, so they had fixed it. This august of 2007, I recieve a letter from my insurance policy attorney stating that I am being sue by the plantiff of the vehicle that I hit. Why I'm being sued if I was cover by my insurance policy and the plantiff car, and is there anything I can do to defend myself. Because they should go after my insurance company if they didn't pay for the plantiff car.... not me.

I recently took up a project helping to restore a 1969 Camaro. The car will actually be participating in a racing circuit, but not some silly drag strip: real racing, with real tight corners and both left and right turns. I know, *gasp*, more than one turn.

Enough with the jokes though. Anyone know of a good place to find parts for this car that would give it a suspension setup worthy of real track car? We've already aquired a LS2 small block that will be mated with a STS Turbo system and a six speed automatic transmission. No retro engine or tranny here, we need fuel economy and oodles of power.

We don't want to put this car to the track and only be able to take the sparse and short straight-aways. I was thinking that maybe we could use the 2007 Corvette Z06 suspension, but how would that work? Are there any shops you all could recommend?

I am wanting to install some flowmasters to my truck and I just want to know if I ever pop in a v-8 will my exhaust still work with it? I have a v-6 right now but will be going up one of these days. I will be getting one pipe done then adding in dual once the money comes around. Will this work? For now I will have one flowmaster put in. Then I will get dual. Then I will try to get a v-8, will the dual flowmasters fit that?
