2005 chevy truck?

Question

I am wanting to install some flowmasters to my truck and I just want to know if I ever pop in a v-8 will my exhaust still work with it? I have a v-6 right now but will be going up one of these days. I will be getting one pipe done then adding in dual once the money comes around. Will this work? For now I will have one flowmaster put in. Then I will get dual. Then I will try to get a v-8, will the dual flowmasters fit that?

Bad ideas. Install the entire dual exhaust system now, or wait until you have enough money to do it, or you are wasting your money on a single now. When you go for the duals later, they will replace everything again.

Also, repowering with a V-8 sounds like a simple and good idea, but you are better off trading in your V6 for a V8 truck.

If you only have one pipe coming off the motor now then you can install a new muffler without conflict.

Most dual exhausts are in the 2" to 2 1/2" range. I had duals on a 454 that were around 2 1/4" and this was fine. I initially had glass packs and later went with flow masters and 2 1/2" pipes (withe headers) and the power was the same but it rumbled like a T-Rex which was preferable to the louder glass packs or Cherry Bombs. As long as you use at least a 2" pipe you'll be good with either engine with duals.

If you go bigger than a 350 CID or 5.7 liter then you need to go 2 1/4" or 2 1/2". This will cover 400-500 CID engines.

First put in the v-8 then put on the flowmaster. I think a v-8 sounds good anyways.
