Consumer Reports annual car buying guide has good info on what full size cars are the most reliable for a given price range---magazine stands or bookstores carry them as well as libraries--- and Fueleconomy.gov has fuel economy ratings for various years and models. Grand Marquis and Crown Vic's have huge trunks but suffer V-8 fuel economy...Buick Lesabre or similiar GM products have a reasonably big trunk but get much better mileage approaching 30MPG highway with the standard 3800 V-6. Down payment is usually 20 percent of loan for normal credit situations....less down is possible with a higher interest rate, have to shop around at banks and credit unions.
