Ive seen ads etc. about laser jamming systems (which seem to be expensive) and plate covers that can stop them. and of course radar detectors all say they detect them. is their any reliable way to avoid the lidar guns? and do the detectors only alert u when your car has been targeted and its too late?

My husband bought this car and the turbo wont spool and the car wont idle right. We had the turbo looked at its perfectly fine. When we start the car the turbo gauge pulls down into vacuum instead of spooling up. Any suggestions or fixes would be great. Could it possible be a vacuum leak? You should also know this engine came from an automatic car and was put into a manual. I dont know if that could be anything; just want to make sure you have all the info. Also the car has no egr valve is that necessary. My husband took the egr valve off his 91 eclipse and it runs the same so we didnt think that was the problem.

I have 3 children (3-8yrs) and i am pregnant with no 4 and looking for a new car. I really do not want a people carrier (children seem to just be sitting in a boot in these) and have found the Fiat Multipla and the Honda FR-v have 6 seats - 3 in front and 3 in back which is ideal - but can my 8 year old travel in the front or is it illegal?

Thank you for your help in advance

my gauges on my speedometer went out and when I pulled one from the junk yard and replaced it, the theft system light is blinking on the speedometer, and the car will not start. I put the old one back in and it starts just fine. Anyone got a clue on how to dissable or remedy this security feature?

I am looking for a 4 door vehicle that will handle 2 teenagers, a lab and his traveling kennel (large), decent on gas and isn't too low to the ground. I'm not sure I can afford a full size truck but need something similar or with lots of room. Any ideas?

I have white stuff pouring out of my vents. It is an intermittant problem that only happens when I have the A/C on. It's smoky - but it's NOT smoke (it's completely odorless)....it only LOOKS smoky. It doesn't happen all the time. Sometimes it's very light and stops happening after a few seconds...other times it's POURING out of my vents (and will eventually slow down & stop). Sometimes it doesn't happen at all. Is this a freon leak, perhaps? I know nothing about cars - so any theories are most welcomed. The car is a 1987 Nissan Stanza with a little over 120,000 miles on it...car still runs great - but I'd like to know what this little problem is.

hello. i got some quotes to replace/fix my bumper and headlights. one of the brackets is broken so that needs to be repaired on my 05 pontiac grand am. its not major but i want to get it fixed before the weather changes. so one place quoted me 930 bucks and maybe more when they take the bumper off. if i go with that then i will face a 500 ded. and possilbe insurance hike as i am a new driver. so i went to two other places to get estimates. they are charging me substantialy less than the first place. they looked at the car and said it shouldnt be that much to repair the lights and refit the bumper. its not hanging or dragging. its almost unnoticeable but i just got it and i want to keep it as close to new as possible. what should i do? does it sound the the first place is trying to rip me off? what about the second place? if i dont have to get the insurance comp. involved if dont want to. plus i am a new driver. anything i should be wary of?

We have had this truck for almost a year now. Ever sense we got it, we have had problems with it. Just about every week we have had to replace something on it. Some parts over and over again. For example, the battery, alternator, and voltage regulator, and headlights. Now the tail light fuse blew out. We replaced it. It lasted 3 days, now every time we replace the fuse, it blows again.
What could the problem be, or what can we do to fix it?

When defrosting the front windscreen, is it necessary to have the A/C system running ?
(I know that the fan has to be running and directed at the screen)
The user hand-book seems to imply that it is necessary.

I rear-ended someone earlier today. We exchanged information but the other person said that they didnt think there was any damage done to their car. She said she would take her car to the dealership to see if there was in fact any damage, and would call if there was a report that needed to be filed, otherwise she said just dont worry about it. Can she come back and Sue since no report was filed?

I am moving from Seattle to MT in a couple months, and was wondering the best way to do it. I have a 2 bedroom apt, and a car that I will be taking with me. No living stiuation in MT yet, but I'm thinking just getting an apartment with a short lease for starters. I don't have a ton of money saved, and will be moving by myself in Decemeber, so it might be tricky driving over the winter passes in a u-haul pulling my car! Was just looking for some advice...
