I live in the Philippines and I would like to buy a car that runs on diesel. Can anyone give me some insight and reviews on the following: Hyundai Tuscon, Nissan X-Trail, Toyota Fortuner and Kia Sorento? Which would you recommned? Would appreciate information on fuel effeciency and safety as well. Thanks!

I do not know about all these cars or gas prices/ availability in the Philippines; however diesels get much better mileage, about 25% more, even greater if towing, than gas engines. They last a lot longer by far, if taken care of. the bad news is the initial cost, and in my experience the maintenance is less frequent, but when you do get work done the parts are more and the labor is a little pricier. I have a diesel truck, but i drive a lot (for work) and put miles on mine.
figure out how much you are going to drive? are you towing?how long are you going to keep it for, and how available is diesel in your area?
p.s. if you are going to keep the diesel for a few years then trade it in , then might want to go with gas, not worth the initial investment...also louder..usually inside the car it doesn't make a difference though
