My mechanic's in Missouri---she says it's either: my starter's burnt out (had arching off a bad neg. battery cable), or the ignition coil's gone bad (bought at a store we won't name, but I've had to replace every other part I've bought there within 4 months, incl. the spark plugs). Any recommendations on a cheap way to figure out which one? Single mom with 5 kids, and this is my only transport. (Mechanic is recently certified, with a 4.0 average.) Yes, the battery harness was replaced, correctly, and the battery has a full charge (took it and had it checked). I can't afford towing, or someone who's going to charge more than $20 to come out and check it onsite. Not enough room to describe all the minute details here, like I did with her, but she says it absolutely is *not* the alternator. TIA.
