I have a 1992 dodge colt. Today the clutch suddenly started slipping like you wouldn't believe. I push the acclerator and i bearly get any power out of it. What exactly is going on with my clutch and how much would it cost to fix?

It sounds more like it's lost compression than the clutch slipping. When you say you push the accelerator and barely get any power, is this with the clutch completely disengaged? If so, you're gonna need new rings and probably pistons, it ain't the clutch. Clutch slippage would be when you have the clutch completely engaged, and the vehicle still lurches like the clutch was only halfway engaged.

A clutch basically is a series of disks that when engaged they "grip" each other by friction. One of them is covered by a material like brake pads. Eventually it wears down. To fix it could be pretty expensive. I don't live in the US so have no idea about cost. Some parts apart from this particular disk might need to be replaced or machined. The whole gearbox must be taken off the car...

how old is the clutch? it may just be work out. It also possible that some of the parts may have broken and lodged themselves in so the clutch won't make contact with your flywheel. take it in and get it checked out. I would wager theres a new clutch in your future.
