I wonder if it is taboo for a woman to know about cars.. I know how an engine is put togther, can name parts and what they do. I know a big block from a small block. I know makes model and years of cars. I help my dad and husband work on thier cars. And I do mine. Its what I do and I love it. Some of my knowledge ranges beyond what some men know. Is it taboo for women to know? What do you think?

It is a 4WD 6 cylinder-4.0L. I replaced the water pump last fall. The thermostat is good. It was a closed cooling system and I replaced the pressure overflow tank. And now I've just installed a new performance radiator and converted my entire system over to be an open cooling system. The belt is good and tight. There are no coolant leaks. Twice I've run coolant system cleaner/flush through. I've also tried using "Ice Water" in the system to lower the temperature. And it runs fine driving around town or idling at stoplights. But when I get on the highway and get to 65-70 it starts running very hot and often overheats. It does this no matter what I do. The oil is burned up and needs changed immediately. The air filter is due for a change, too. I also need to replace the head gasket soon as it is leaking oil. I can't figure this out!! Please help!!! I'm already poor and can't afford to do much else to it.

What was the OFFICIAL reasoning for the disaster again?

I think i saw a programme on it and it all seemed a bit dodgy and things not adding up.

Also why did that disaster (the only one in concordes history) signal the end of the awesome plane?

I need a window regulator, not a window motor. The quote on the price from the dealer is too much.

He doesn't have a liscence because he can't pass the eye test... long story there.... but he can see just fine..... so i put his car in my name for him and did a thirty day registration... realizing my horrible mistake i don't know how to get the car outta my name. Can i sign the title over to him after having it notarized after the thirty day permit is up? Would i be free of this horrible deal? Would it be his problem? If not how can i get it out of my name so nothing comes back onto me? Please Help!

You want to learn to ride a motorcycle, so you sign up for the MSF Basic Rider's Course, which says "little to no riding experience necessary". You eagerly show up for the course, only to be sent home less than two hours later because you are "holding up the class" due to the fact (1) you've obviously never been on a motorcycle to begin with, but also (2) you've never driven standard and (3), once you get going, you can't remember for the life of you where the brakes were and you drag your feet on the ground. You now feel like you should have been told up front that you should have been informed that (1) knowledge of driving standard would have helped you out tremendously, and (2) you should have had at least minimal riding experience before you signed up, because then you would have grasped the concept much easier and you wouldn't have felt like an *** in front of the rest of the class. You may even have invested that $165 elsewhere. If this has happened , what did you do about it?

I got in the car to go to lunch today and it wouldn't start. I put the key in the ignition and turned it and there was a sort of a "thunk" noise, then nothing. The headlights, turn signals, wipers and radio aren't working now, but the dome light and the door ajar/headlights on beeper work. I'm guessing alternator, but I've never had one make a thunk noise before. Anybody have a clue?

I had the pads and rotors changed on my 2000 A6 by my local import shop (no Audi dealer nearby). My car has the optional 8 pad brake pad setup on the front and the shop used OEM because of the brake pad setup. I presume they changed the sensor because that comes in the kit. I originally took the car in because the dashboard indicator light came on...no squeaking, no problems braking, not time to have the brakes changed mileage-wise --- just the dashboard light came on.

Well, now the right front brake squeaks - just the right front. It's really loud and obnoxious and occurs 80% of the time when braking. It's doing something else funny when braking but not consistently.

I've taken it back to the import shop three times and the squeaking problem has not been resolved. I need to know in what direction I need to go now. It's obvious the import shop either broke something, installed something wrong, or somehow caused this problem.

If anyone could give me an idea what to do now.

Not service or towing, just the stand-alone battery for a regular pickup truck (2000 GMC Sonoma). I'll install it myself.

My '92 Honda Prelude's rear brake lights will not work when the brake pedal is engaged. In addition, the instrument panel brake light warning indicator remains in the "on-position" while the car is running. However, I have replaced brake lights, fuses, and checked all visible wire connections leading to the rear brake light cluster module. All other rear lights work including turn signal, parking, reverse and emergency indicators.

I argue that the U.S., federal, state and local governments have committed almost nothing to encouraging bike use - either recreational or as a means of transportation. According to Jim Sayer, Director of the Adventure Cycling Association (http://www.adventurecycling.org), "In the U.S., half of all trips taken are three miles and less. If just half of those trips were done by bicycle, we would save 24 billion gallons of gas each year." Yet, when riding bikes on American roads, you put your life at risk. I argue that we need more dedicated bike paths.

There are two road in our town that have almost identical names;
locust road and locut avenue. why they did it, we have no clue....but now we are having trouble with our mail system and package delivery.

i called 911 and they said that they concurred and that it would be no problem to change the name of our road. they offered us the chance to name our road. do you have any suggestions for a country road?

the name shouldn't be too long...we don't want to have to write novels for our addresses. We agreed that it shouldn't be too cutesy or rude.

please help
