check engine light was on. The machanic said the bsm... or he may have said the psm (I couldn't catch the first letter) wasn't responding. He said it is a $500.00 part but I would have to be careful because there is no way of telling what fried it out or if it would happen again after it was replaced. Does anyone have a clue what this is and how big of a problem it is??

I had an oil change done and they recommend me to have my fuel system cleaned with a 3 part bottle called Zoom that you put in the fuel.
Is that any good?

Hi, I put a used set of mag wheels off ebay to my Mazda 626.
It came out from a 89 Mazda mx6.

The bolt pattern is the same. Drives smooth wothout a problem.

In the middle of the wheel, there is a 1-2mm gap between the centre hole of the mag and the hub of the car.
Basically it means the centre hole of the mag is a bit bigger than the car.

Will it be a major problem?
Is there any kind of spacers to fix it?

Still the mags are really cool!

First,off, I have a Toyota Corolla 98.
My passenger side window stopped working. I took it to the shop and got the "burned out" motor replaced and they said I also needed to buy a new "master switch" from a dealer. They said something about there was too much current or electricity going to the passenger side motor (they ran it through many electric tests).

Is this possible or is it BS? I haven't bought the switch yet, I'm still looking online ($241 @ dealer, $181 so far on various sites)

My driver's side door lock stopped working a while back. I finally decided to have it fixed while the dealership mechanic was performing some recall repairs. They gave me an initial estimate of $85 for repairing the lock. A few hours later, they called to tell me that they needed to replace the mechanism, and the part would arrive the next day. They told me the part would be an additional $118 on top of the original $85 labor charge, which I would be charged anyway, so I authorized that amount and they did the repair. When I went to pick up the car, I was being charged about $300!!! They didn't inform me about any other charges over the phone, but on the invoice I had a labor charge of $170! My question is, are they allowed to do this? I never would have authorized this amount because the car isn't worth much anyway. I feel like I was raped for an extra hundred bucks. I will never have work done at a dealership ever again!

I am trying to learn driving a stick shift car as it's the only way to enjoy the true spirit of driving and tast the limit for most sports cars. However, I am not sure what are the options I can learn to drive a stick shift car. Obviously, options can be:
1. learn from a friend,
2. learn from family member
3. learn from driving school
4. ...
Option 1&2 does not apply in my case. Do we have any other way?

I don't know anything about cars and always feel taken when I take it somewhere for repairs - its a 2001 toyota camry with 87000 miles always ran good before.

I heard that you can "clean" titles in some states and there are a lot of flooded car that are being retitled in other states and resold. So how do I know if a car title hasn't been "cleaned". Would it show on carfax? Can a mechanic look at it and tell pretty easily?
