YES IT IS!!! well, at least i hope so. The projected dates are 2008-2009. If GM is smart, they will offer it in many different levels, starting with a V6(eww) base model, then a 5.3 mid-level, then a 6.0 at the top. BUT they should offer a 6.0 WITHOUT things like power windows, powerlocks, power mirrors, Satalite radio, Leather seats, 50 thousand airbags, chromed up evrytihng, woodgrain, etc...and all for under 25,000...dosent sound verry hard to do being u can get a 5.3 4wd truck for $16,000. Now that camaro combo would sell AND be able to spank all those lesser mustangs by a mile. JUst PLEASE GM!!! dont put a $40,000+ pricetag on it...people with that kind of money will get a corvette.

I heard 2009 besides. i'm positive they'll be out for decades and then after GM won't be able to promote them they'll be lengthy gone back. The Camaro has and continuously will play 2d mess round to the Mustang. The Mustang created it and killed it. through 2002 Camaro and Firebird sales were dreadful. GM tried to fill the void with that tank noted as the GTO and that failed miserably besides. through the unique pony automobile. the hot Bullit Mustang became basically presented at present.

buck doesn't know what he is talking about. the solstice is a good, nice rider. i still prefer the corvette though. i have driven both right off the truck, being a former gm mechanic. the hhr is a gm version of the pt cruiser and they are virtaully the same. who is anybody to compare? how do we compare a silverado with a ranger, or, a ram. vehicles all have their good and their bad. i can't wait for the new camaro. i am going to buy one as soon as they come out. probably in 2009. maybe as early as 2008.

The return of the Camaro name has been anticipated by enthusiasts since fourth generation production ended in 2002. In January of 2006, the first official word regarding a fifth generation Camaro from General Motors came at the 2006 North American International Auto Show, where the 2006 Camaro Concept was released. AutoWeek editors unanimously awarded the Camaro Concept "Best In Show." The concept is based on the new GM Zeta platform. Road & Track offered an exclusive first look at the car which had photos as well as a short video on the day the concept was released.[3]
The concept car features a 110 in (279.4 cm) wheelbase, which is 9 in (23 cm) longer than the previous generation, but an overall length of just 186 in (474.4 cm), 7 in (18 cm) shorter. The concept is powered by the 400 hp LS2 V8 and equipped with the T-56 six-speed manual transmission.
On August 10, 2006, GM Chairman and CEO Rick Wagoner announced that GM will build an all-new version of the Chevrolet Camaro muscle car based on the award-winning concept that debuted at the Detroit auto show in January 2006. The all-new Camaro will begin with early production versions at the end of 2008 and will go on sale in the first quarter of 2009.[1][5]
"The overwhelmingly enthusiastic response to the Camaro Concept continues to remind me of the uniquely iconic place our products can have in customers’ hearts,” Wagoner said. “Camaro is much more than a car; it symbolizes America's spirit and its love affair with the automobile." [6]
Although the production version of the vehicle was not shown, GM said it would follow very closely the style of the 2006 Camaro Concept. GM confirmed the Camaro would be rear wheel drive, have an independent rear suspension, be offered with both V6 and V8 engines, and have available automatic and manual transmissions. GM is expected to show the production version of the vehicle in a massive debut at the 2009 North American International Auto Show.
Chevrolet General Manager Ed Peper said the new Camaro will appeal to both men and women, and unite customers with fond memories of previous Camaros with those who first experienced a Camaro when the concept was unveiled in January.
“We intend to make the all-new Camaro relevant to younger buyers while retaining its appeal to current fans,” said Peper. “The beauty of the best Camaros is that they have always been beautiful to look at with performance that rivals expensive European GTs. Yet they were practical enough to drive every day and priced within the reach of many new-car buyers.” [6]
Pricing has not been announced nor has the availability of a convertible, but it is speculated model year 2010 will see a convertible release.[7] The new Camaro will be produced at the Oshawa, Ontario manufacturing plant.[8] 2,700 jobs are expected to be saved at the plant that was originally scheduled to be closed in 2008.[9]
Bob Lutz's post on the GM FastLane Blog[10] for August 10, 2006 thanked everyone in the blogosphere who commented and offered feedback on the Camaro.[11]

who cares??? look at the blunder GM did with the HHR!!! a pt cruiser immitation!! what a sorry peice of junk. and look at the pontiac solstice. bragged for 2 years as a $18000.00 hot rear wheel drive convertible to compete with the Miata...it has turned out to be a limited edition model with the price jacked up above msrp to $28000.00 and a fabric convertible top that is a wrinkled up after thought. Leave it to GM to ruin the next gereration Camaro. they will never do for it, what ford did with the mustang.. an appealing re-make priced in reach of all.

Supposedly it's due for production in '08, on the market for '09. Personally, I'm drooling for the new Dodge Cahllenger due out around the same time.
