I would check the battery before rushing off to replace the alternator. You can swing by any auto parts store...ie..auto zone, advance auto, etc...and they will check your battery for free. They can also check your alternator if that is the problem. Their is a small chance you have a bad ground...if your alternator and battery check out ok..that could be the problem.

Sounds like you need a new battery, and probably a new alternator as well. You also might want to check the belt that's driving the alternator to make sure it's not slipping.

I bet you have an amplifier pumping some tunes don't yah? Your alternator is toast and you probably fried it with a high powered amp. Most vehicles these days are made with Japanese alternators and are not designed to handle the power capacity needed....
BTW, Shauna..... if his timing belt broke, he wouldn't even be able to start the car! No timing, no running!!! LMAO!

I hope Im wrong but I have had to replace many alternators and my car never done all the crazy things yours is doing. It sounds like a short or you have recently put a new electronic radio, alarm system etc in your car and and it is wired in wrong.

Hope it IS just the alternator...
Sounds more like the electrics in the car (or the computer in the car) is going crazy.
The computer can be formatted by a mechanic (if it has one), but electrical problems are very hard (and expensive) to trace.

check the battery and spark plugs in your car, if thats not wrong, I don't know what else can be. Maybe the wires are switched and scrwed up. I really don't know that stuff.
