I had an agency electronically sent in my tax. I'm a depedent.

Anways, i came back a week later to do my Rent Credit. And the lady there said that i will approxit get xx.xx back. So i have to send this by mail.

Well, a day after i send the forms, i realize that i shouldn't get xxx.xx back becuase i'm a depedent ( on my mother). But the lady that help me do my rent credit never ask me anything so im assuming that she knows what she is doing becuase she looked at my incometax return already prior to doing thiss.

Am i'm suppose to get xxx back even though i'm a dependent?

What do i need to do?

NOTE: I ask for the refund to be direcectly deposit into my bnk accnt.

Such as an adult child (21) who claims himself, but so do their parents? The parents can do so legally, because the 21 year-old lived with them the previous year for a little over six months before moving out. The parent told the child to claim himself, but then found out they can claim the child. They do when they file. What will happen?

I always fill out the first one single with 1 exemption, and never end up owing taxes. Say I make about 80K at the first job...and want another job...how can I fill out the W-4 at the second job so that I won't owe any taxes at the end of the year? I don't think I should file single-1 again because then it starts the progressive taxes all over, and from my first 80K I'm already in a higher bracket.

My earnings from 1980 were never recorded on my social security statement. SS says I need a W-2 from 1980. My previous employer is dead. The pre-school were I worked has changed hands at least twice-I've contacted them. I've sent in Form 4506-twice: no records found, have written at least 6 letters about this. I have no paystubs from so long back, can't find my tax returns from that year, have been to the SS office and he said there are lot's of UNRECORDED earnings on his computer, in a black zone if you will, but he couldn't do anything to match me and to those earings. I found another person with whom I worked, he has no recorded income from that year either, we both have from 1979 though. I live in Scandinavia and am a citizen there, not USA, and I lack 1 credit from SS!, thus I won't get retirement from them. I have 60 days to repeal my case and afterward I won't be able to add the earnings to my statement even if I finally get some proof. Any ideas how to proceed in this? Thanks.

I'd like to just sign the signature page by fax to my tax preparer, who would then mail in the whole thing.

I live in California and just graduated from college. Got a new job for 52k a year and no dependents, just renting. I was wondering how much taxes will I be hit with? I used to make 13/hr and worked only part time so I hardly payed any taxes and even got a $300 dollar return. So I was also thinking if I should buy a house for a tax break or claim 2 dependents and just pay at the end of the year. That way I can get interest from the bank throughout the year. Just planning on getting the most out of my money. Looking for a little guidance since people have had to deal with taxes all their lives and it is new to me. Any other ways to get a tax break would be great, also how do you personally deal with it avoid paying taxes or getting a tax cut? Do you just live with it and let them take as they wish?

I just got a really good job and was wondering if I bought a house instead of renting will the property tax lower the income tax on my check? I never actually thought about this till now. I have no dependents and am tired of getting ripped by the govt. I lose like 30% off my paycheck on taxes alone so basically will buying a house lower the percentage they take from me each pay check? I want to learn how to avoid getting taxed so high. Note that kids right now is not an option for me or my girlfriend. Also any other advice to help get a higher tax return or lower the income tax is welcomed. Thanks in advance.

All the sites I've found have free federal tax efiling, but to file state taxes, they charge you. Turbo-Tax used to let you complete the state forms on line & only charged if you filed electronically, but not if you printed them out & mailed it in, but they're not doing that anymore.

Instead of doing my taxes myself, for my first time I went to an H&R Block office. I was truly grateful for the assistance the tax preparer gave me. She was extremely helpful, and even held the door open for me as I left the office. All that friendliness, and I didn't tip her. My barber isn't even that nice and I tip him!

I propose that the US Constitution be amended to include an income tax, that this tax will forever be held a a flat rate of 10% (and limit state's ability to tax to 4%). Further the tax would be collected only on the last pay of the month. NO REFUNDS! NO OVERPAYMENTS! SELF EMPLOYED PERSONS PAY MONTHLY, BI-MONTHLY OR QUARTERLY, BUT NO UNDERPAYMENT FEES FOR ANYONE, PROVIDING THAT THEY, INDEED PAY THEIR 10%! 10% for all income levels, the more you make, the more you pay, but not unbearably so, and ALL corporations pay 10% NO MORE TAX BREAKS FOR INCENTIVES TO LOCATE OR, WORSE, RELOCATE! Ta breaks for locating and relocating rob's communities of much needed revenues, and companies move, throwing personal economies into great upheaval, including bankruptcies! I think that this would allow ALL to fine tune their budgets and eliminate much IRS work, as there would be only 4-15 for self employed persons What do you think, my future constituency?

I don't know too much about taxes, but I'm doing mine right now with turbotax, and I owe quite a bit. Someone once told me that if you have a business license, you can qualify for much larger tax cuts. I haven't really had much active business activity, but I do have a license.

I heard that since I do own a work at home business, I can take the money I pay for rent every month and claim that as a business expense, since this is where the business is located. Or something like that.

Can someone explain this to me better, or give me ideas of other deductions I would qualify for being I own a home based business (even though I haven't had much business activity)?

I live in washington

My AGI = 236K, and taxable income = 137.6K. My total fed tax = 47.4K, which is 34.5% of my Taxable income. My Schedule A is 86K, with nearly all of that being state taxes paid in 2006 for a big capital gain I realized in 2005.
It seems like I am paying way too much tax, but is it because of the deduction of state tax payment?

I'm finding it impossible to find my previous employer's State ID number since they didn't send me my W2, so I just need to submit my form 4852. As well, does your tax forms only need to be postmarked before April 17th, or arrive by that date? Any help would be appreciated!
