If someone from another state buys something from me do I still have to charge them Taxes? Or is it only for sales within my state?

Locals Only, as the surfers would say. It is an out of state buyers responsibility to pay their own out of state sales taxes on items they order ahem.. out of state.

kind of a tounge twister there.......

Im not saying they'll actually file and pay them, but you don't need to worry about it.

May I commend you on keeping up with the sales tax rules. I presume that you maintain a business of selling on eBay, and that you have a California sales tax license issued to you. As long as you don't maintain a physical presence in another state, you have no reason to charge out-of-state customers sales tax. That's why online retailers often charge sales tax in multiple states--because the warehouses from which they ship are located throughout the country, or because they have physical storefronts or physical business activities in multiple states.

You only charge taxes for sales within your state.
