For any of you that have had this problem this is what I have found out. My refund status said directed deposited on 1/26 to contact bank if it wasnt there. I did so no prob. Called IRS which said no holds should have my money anytime. Checked status again said delayed and ref #1121 to contact IRS. called IRS again said they didnt know why but my refund was stopped and being reviewed along with 70,000 others- wouldnt get refund until at least 2/16. I have come to find out that this was due to a delay in congress in putting some tax cuts back on the books. There are 3 mentioned - I have tax deductions for education expenses - this was listed. Recieved a letter from my university today giving these suggestions: The IRS will not process returns that claim the tuition deductions until after FEB 3rd, 2007 wait until after that date if you are planning on taking the deductions and havent filed. Paper returns will be held and electronic returns filed prior to that will be rejected...

Ok my former boss reported that I paid $319.00, towards my federal tax. I grossed $11,421.89 I claim 2. I know that this # is wrong. I actually paid more then the $319.00 but have no proof, see we did not recieve paystubs. He paid us with a company account check which, when it clears goes to his bank.
My son also worked there and he claimed 0. I also know that he paid more then what exboss reported. Exboss reported that my son paid $191.24 towards his federal. My son grossed $2,626.00 for the year with 0 decutions the amount of $191.24 is wrong it should of been higher, he paid more into it. The fica and medicare is correct but I know both of us paid more into federal!! What can we do? We should be getting more back and former boss underreported!!
We live in florida and paystubs are not required. The only way to prove what we paid is to see the cancelled checks that go back to the boss, and how would we get them? any help would be greatly appericate

My daughter's credit is currently bad due to a divorce. My wife and I bought a condo in our name that she is living in. Mortgage and title are in our name. She lives there and pay's for everything. Once her credit is restored we are going to sell it to her or put her on the title and let her refiance it in her name. In the meantime how do we treat this for tax purposes? Do we treat it like a rental and take depreciation, expenses etc. Can we treat it as a second home (It is in the same town we live in) and deduct interest property tax etc. Thanks in advance for your help

My girlfriend and her kids lived with me for the entire year of 2006. My girlfriend did not work and is not filing taxes for 2006. Does this qualify me as Head of Household for an earned income credit? The qualifying requirements for this credit are confusing.

Hi All!

I was going to do my taxes today, but I had a question about a W-2 that I need your help with. I just started a new job on December 20th, 2006-----will I be getting a W-2 from them even though I only worked for them for 11 days, and my first paycheck wasn't until January 1st, 2007? Thanks!! :)

I live in Ontario.

Last year I made $28,940.67 and I paid:
Income tax $4084.94
CPP $1260.91
EI $541.19

I paid $13,337.50 in rent last year. Is there a difference if I claim single or common law? If my girlfriend lives with me and I claim commn law, does she have to claim the rent expense if she made more than me?

Thanks in advance for any help...

I asked this question before and I didn't word everything correctly to get the right answer. OK

I am 19 years old, I turned 19 Oct.11th 2006 and I was married Nov.18th 2006. I lived with my mother up until Nov.18th,2006. I was on her health insurance until that date I got married. Her health insurance is through General motors and unless she can claim me on the 2006 tax returns she has to pay all the money back from me being on her insurance ( which ends up being almost 10,000 dollars for the 11months) I made about 8000 dollars in 2006 working, and We're not sure what to do. Is there any thing we can do for her to claim me as a depended for the year 2006? My husband is fine with filling married filling seperate- he made about 20,000 for the year. Please help.

Basically at one of my jobs (I had 3 last year), I earned roughly 3,300, but only about $44 was witheld. Normally this wouldn't be a problem, but I made about $21,000 last year. Needless to say I am going to have to pay a lot more now in taxes because it seems that they did not withold enough. I called them and they said I had only selected "1" on my W4 meaning single and unmarried, so its a mystery to me why so little was witheld. Then again I'm not an expert on taxes by any means. Is there anything I can do about this or do I have to just bite the bullet?

We were very publicly going thru a divorce.I relocated to another state.Wasn't aware until I filed taxes for 2005 that I'd been used without consent.Afterwards I realized that is why, after being summoned to court in Aug. of 2005 to finalize the matter inwhich the judge granted.I did not receive the decree until Mar.2006. After she had filed and rec'd the 2005 tax refund.

Yesterday (02/02/07) they sent me a 1099-misc for 700.00. How can I dispute this with them, or the IRS? Is there a form? Is it too late? I would assume they have already sent a copy to the IRS.
