For any of you that have had this problem this is what I have found out. My refund status said directed deposited on 1/26 to contact bank if it wasnt there. I did so no prob. Called IRS which said no holds should have my money anytime. Checked status again said delayed and ref #1121 to contact IRS. called IRS again said they didnt know why but my refund was stopped and being reviewed along with 70,000 others- wouldnt get refund until at least 2/16. I have come to find out that this was due to a delay in congress in putting some tax cuts back on the books. There are 3 mentioned - I have tax deductions for education expenses - this was listed. Recieved a letter from my university today giving these suggestions: The IRS will not process returns that claim the tuition deductions until after FEB 3rd, 2007 wait until after that date if you are planning on taking the deductions and havent filed. Paper returns will be held and electronic returns filed prior to that will be rejected...

OK. The latest word is that these delays are related to the extender deductions that were approved late by Congress. A number of people have mentioned this on Yahoo!. I confirmed it with the IRS and several tax professionals today. From what I'm hearing, we should all receive our refunds within 8 - 15 days from 2/3. With the IRS refund schedule we should all receive it on 2/16. Here is the IRS bulletin about the delays.

My wife and I file seperately and both were delayed only after the irs help phone line said that both refunds were already deposited. I called the bank that handles my fees for the tax returns and they said a lot of people had called with the same problem. Just because the phone line or the internet said the money is deposited does not mean it is. My wives said it was deposited and the four days later got a ref# 1121.

I had the same problem. Talked to IRS on 1/26. He explained some glitch that was holding up refunds. Nothing on 2/2, but reference code #1121. I called again, they had no idea what was going on, but said they were flooded with calls. I was told it SHOULD be corrected by 2/9, but by the latest 2/16. I hope so!!

Thanks for the info....I was aware some returns not being processed until 2/3 due to the problem with congress. However, the EIC is not specifically mentioned in any articles that talk about this.

I wonder now...I was hoping for a 2/9 deposit...which would be an exact 2 week delay. I soooo hope it's not the 16th!

I just wanted to let everyone know, also, that if you are using HR Block online tax service with direct deposit, to beware! They gave HSBC (the bank that deposits the money into your account) the wrong account number on mine and my boyfriends tax returns. I know it wasn't my error, because I ALWAYS double check my banking info just so there isn't any mistakes. My boyfriend and I don't use the same bank, either. I don't know what's going on, but this is ridiculous. I use HR Block every year, but probably won't next year, simply because of this. There is a phone number you can call to verify that they have the correct account number. It is:1-888-503-8361....Hope this helps someone.
