I reported a W2-G of $500 for winnings, which allows me to deduct up to $500. I probably do have losses this large, but obviously I don't keep receipts from casinos, lotteries, etc.

I make about twice as much as my wife, when we file together we dont get anything back. When she files separate (no accidental errors in the wrong filling boxes) from me, she gets a little back, and when I do it separate I get a lot back. My question is how do I do the deductions. we have separate bank accounts, I pay the mortgage, real estate taxes, etc. how do we deduct that? Thanks.

My best friend got $8000 back last year with her three children. This year they told her she couldn't get the child tax credit for all three. Is there a new law? I was wondering because I have a new baby and now we have three total. I was realy needing the extra credit so we can get a van. Has any one already filed taxes who have more than two children and if so how many could you claim the child tax credit for?

She doesn't work and I had to wait until I was 23 to file as an independant student because she never filed her taxes. I was raise in foster care but, Feds said it didn't matter by the time I was able to go to college all my peers where graduating. That was 11 years ago and I still feel like I am catching up. I know it's kinda cheating but, me and what other little family have depleated all recources to help her. Plus, you have to want help first. She gets mail here and stuff but, we can'tallow her to stay because of stealing. We usually put her in hotelswhen she runs out of SSI and hustling money. Sad I know....

The federal basic personal amount of earning before taxes for 2006 is 8839 and each of the provinces have there own amounts, usually slightly lower then this.

What is the maximum we can earn living in the Province of Quebec ? Ontario for example is 8,377 for 2006 .

Essentially, with no other factors, deductions, income, exemptions, you can earn this much income and not pay any FEDERAL tax in Canada, but what about Provincial tax, is that different ?
