I live in indiana. And you can claim a renters deduction on state taxes. On Form IT-40 schedule 1 & 2

No, not on your Federal taxes. Some states might allow a deduction or credit for renters in lieu of the deduction that they would have for property taxes if they had been home owners.

This is usually just a political ploy to make it look like the state is giving renters a break; what they give away to one person they'll make up elsewhere.

No.

If you have an office-in-home (lots of qualifers to be able to do this), then you can deduct the business percentage of the rent.

But rent just for a living space - no.

Not for your living place,
only if it you are running a business then , like store rent is part of the business expense list.
