Does Kentucky levy a local tax on where you live or where you work? A friend of mine lives in Ohio and works in Kentucky but had local Kentucky tax withheld from his pay (Boone County). Can he file a local return and get it back since he doesn't live there, or must he forfeit the withholdings?

Can we still split the interest? Only my SSN is on the intereset statement. We could easily put it only on my income tax documentation but we prefer to split it. Both names are on the mortgage and we have been splitting the payments. But only my SSN is on the mortage document.

I was just wondering if I could find out specifically what the break down is of my taxes or whether this is 'classified' information... I want to know for example, what percentage of my income tax goes towards NHS and how much of council tax actually goes to upkeep of roads, and street lighting in my area? Plus how much of every tax goes towards the government's wages.

My wife and I moved from Virginia Beach to Ohio last spring for a job related transfer. Her company gave us 25k for the move which is reported on her W2. Can I also deduct the money we spent for the move on my taxes as I itemize? I checked irs.gov and I do qualify for the deduction based on the mileage test. Thanks for any help.

I have a son and b/f of 7 years. We all live together. Up until now, I have been claiming my son, and head of household, while b/f files single.
He makes twice as much money as me, and his money truly does go beyond 50% for my sons care. I think he CAN claim me and my son and HE should claim HOH and I claim single. Which way is better? and what kind of difference would Each of us see in our paychecks week to week?
