I sell on ebay. When I take my smaller items, like a sewing pattern to town, I only have to pay .58 to send one pattern, when I make a label thru paypal it costs way more and also costs me costs of ink, paper, wear and tear on printer and all, but mostly when selling small items, the shipping costs of paypal eat me up and I DO NOT WANT TO RAISE MY SHIPPING PAST TRUE COST. I used to have a small meter machine in 2001 , I think that may have been before paypal kind of took over ???? any ideas, I'm a bit antiquated as I am almost house bound. thanks

I found one of those websites that list freelance writing jobs (by the project). You have to bid and explain why you'd be the best person for the work. Just to see what would happen, I put in a 'bid' for an assignment to edit a textbook, and listed my writing experience (as did about five other people). I got the assignment which pays a total of $100.00. I happened to have the highest bid too. The job should take about six hours so it's hardly worth the trouble. Are there any sites that offer more 'challenging' assignments, or do they basically work so that the site sponsor (this site, anyway) makes money via a 5% to 6% fee.

i am starting a small painting business, and i have a competitor who seems to deal with a real estate agent who constantly feeds him work . maybe im a little jealous that this guy dosent really have to do any of his own footwork to get clients. i met the agent at a function, and she wanted prices from me to do work for her. i told her that i would not step on anyones feet to get work( i wouldnt want it done to me).now this competitor kinda screwed me on a joint venture, should i contact her 4 work?or where should i go to find these agents?

My dad runs a smal business - 3 employees altoghether, with occasional extra help. One empoyee is taking a lot of sick days whenever his kid is sick. His wife goes to work and leaves him with the kid because he is paid for all sick days. This was never a problem in the past, but now it has reached the taking the piss stage and is affecting a fragile business. The question is, what can my Dad do to change sick day provision after a certain number of days off, as is commonly the case?

I'm planning to start a small business, and am wondering.. when you write off business expenses, do you get money back the government or elsewhere?

Some of my planned business expenses are expensive, and I can't afford them if I don't get reimbursed.
