Small Business - March 2007

I havework for this self owned gym facility for two months now. Its a gymnastics facility that was started by this man and wife. I am beginning to wonder how they have managed to stay in business 7 years. I am a little older than them, and about 10 to 15 years older then their entire staff. So far I have observed:
1. lack of communication between the them and the employees.
2. The wife not managing the building during the hours it says they they are open.
3. They have rickety, old and worn equipment.
4. When I asked if they could purchase new equipment for the preschool floor, they said they could'nt afford it.
5. The checks that they use to pay us, come directly from their personal checking account.
6. They take advantage of the younger staff (making them do more than hired to do or not honoring their time off requests)
7. Never answering the work or home phone during hours it is supposed to be open
This is not even half of it!
I wonder where all the money is going to?

I owned a corportated business for three years. I am now closing the business. I owe a few thousand on some phone book ads. I am going to try to pay them off but for right now I am in the negative. Can this affect my personal life? Will it show up on my credit report?

cause i work at a really old eckerd and have stolen minor things and inventory is coming up...but im told im safe since ive been working there for 2 months now and in 2 weeks is inventory so idk what do u guys think will happen?

We recently began to delegate more responsibilities at our shop, trying to better use our employees' talents to run our shop rather than just having them assist us with the labor. It's already increasing our free time and lowering our stress levels, but we can't help but feel a loss of a sense of accomplishment and control.

Have any other small business owners (or large business owners, for that matter) experienced this? How do you fight the temptation to step in and take control when you really don't need to?

I have been selling Avon since January and when I received my Campaign 6 order, there was a pair of the $15 black sapphire earrings. None of my customers ordered them. My father cosigned my student loan and the check just came in and he signed it and than he went to his business trip. I call some banks most of them require my father present at the bank in order for me to deposit this check into my bank account. Does anyone know any other way around this? He has already endorse it to me. And I have paperwork that verifly he is the cosigner and I am his son.

ive just become an avon rep. ive done it before so i know how avon generally works. only thing is i have been given really rubbish streets and no one will give me back the catalogue- never mind getting an order.

i dont have many friends and family and the ones i do have arn't interested in buying from avon.

how can i get more orders?? ive put a advert in shop windows and ive asked for more streets but they have no streets available just yet.

i cant go delivering at other streets as there is prob another rep around that area and dont want to get on wrong side of other reps.

i cant think what i can do to get more custom as i work on comission and can do with that little extra cash. can anyone think what else i can do to get some more buyers??

serious please as i really want this to work

I charge £12hr cleaning houses. I think this is cheap compared to some cleaning companies.I have to consider cleaning insurance,cleaning materials,petrol,tax ,insurance and pension.Do you think that this is a sufficent amount i live in the east of england?
