We recently began to delegate more responsibilities at our shop, trying to better use our employees' talents to run our shop rather than just having them assist us with the labor. It's already increasing our free time and lowering our stress levels, but we can't help but feel a loss of a sense of accomplishment and control.

Have any other small business owners (or large business owners, for that matter) experienced this? How do you fight the temptation to step in and take control when you really don't need to?

If you have hired the right people you should be able to relax, if you haven't different story. If you trust those you are leaving in charge then you need to chill and let them earn their money and do their jobs....maybe YOU need to find something to do with your free time w/o the worry, sounds pretty good to me. Don't make problems where there aren't any, there will be enough problems to go around in other areas. Maybe you just did it right and it is all okay.......!!!!

Make your sense of accomplishment and control fulfilled by remembering that you made this happen you are so far successful. Fulfill your control need, by checking that everything adds up at the end of the day rather than everytime a situation comes up. Be available for questions or staff needs/ ideas.

Brainstorm marketing ideas you can do yourself. Keep yourself busy with a hobby.

Stay in control of your business. If the cookie crumble it will fall in your lap not your employees. I know you like the freedom of leaving certain tasks to your well rounded employees but you want to be in the loop. The more you know the more you grow.
