now I am getting increasingly more calls to do more projects. My question is...Should I quit my day job and focus on these side jobs?

Just because you're getting calls doesn't mean they will last. Are you prepared for the slow times? Are you able to promote/sell yourself? Are you motivated enough to run your own business? You can make much more money working for yourself than someone else, but it take a lot of work, drive, dedication, etc. If you went out on your own and you weren't able to get enough jobs, could you go back to working for someone else? I say ... Go for it! I've never regretted starting my own business.

jdkilp has the right idea. When you own your own business you have to be not only the boss, but you have to be the bookkeeper, accounts payable clerk, accounts receivable clerk, and customer service rep. Oh, yeah - the only decision maker - nobody to blame errors or delays on. You mentioned benefits - you have to provide your own health insurance, and you have to motivated to put in the time required to finish your assignments.

The other side of the coin is that you will never get rich working for the other guy. He tells you how much he will pay you, what to wear to work, when to be there and when you can leave, and what kind of car you can go home in.

If you're good at what you do, and you think you can live off of it for a few years, or even longer - go for it. I started my biz 2 and half years ago and I wouldn't have it any other way now.

If you can keep both jobs do,but if you are overwhelmed then make a choice,do you get Benefits with CAD Drafting?
Benefits are money and no one can live without them. You need to investigate options before you make a solid decision.
Will either job be more stable then the other.
