carpeting was the gaudy silly symbol of another decade, along with stagflation?
Let's hope that the silly fad of putting green or orange or pink granite in your kitchen will implode like the credit markets and saner heads will once again rule.
Similar to the 1970s where for a short time you couldn't sell your house unless it had shag carpet, soon followed by rational, sober minds which required one to rip that crap out before selling a home.

I'm currently trying to look for a job,I am trying to move into an apartment after I'm done with my transition program (I'll be done in June.)The apartment is going to be for me & my boyfriend soon to be fiance. He can't work due to not having his papers,so I'm trying to get a job as fast as I can to get money for June. But the problem is I look & see how much the apartments are, there around 580.00 rent + 200.00 security deposit.I'm totally freaking out, because I don't think I'll make that at all,I am thinking about looking into subsidized housing.I just want this so bad to live with him & It's making my head hurt I don't know what to do. P.S I'm currently 1 month pregnant also.Is this normal for me to be freaking out over this?

I am a new agent and I recently contracted into listing a home for one of my client. The garage of the home that I listed has been furnished with 4 walls completed like a normal room and the floor was also tiled. I have created a flier and on it I said that the garage could be used as a studio or an entertainment area. I did not put this in the MLS, just on the flier in front of the home. Today I received a call from some lady claiming that she is working for the city the home is resided in (Westminster California). She told me that I cannot list that the garage could be use as a studio or an entertainment area on my flier. Does anyone know if saying that the garage could be used as a studio or an entertainment area will create legal issue? I did put on the MLS that the garage has permitted to be turn into a studio or anything like that. It's just on the flier in front of the home. The garage can also be used to park cars if the new owner wish to do so. Thank

I am in a bind. Im trying to sell my house. Can not due to the property value dropped drastically and now the value of the house is less than what is owed due to a exit off the highway being built 1 house from my house.
I am forced to do a short sale. My 1st lien is ok with it but the 2nd is being real stubborn about it and want me to pay the entire thing back.
I am willing to go into forclosue if I have to but I do not want to.
Is there any thing that protects the homeowner in this situation?

Thanks.

I have a deposit and a signed contract on a pre - construction condo. Seeing how the housing market is going is there a way to renegotiate the price or at least get some free upgrades ?
The cost of the condo is about $ 350.000.00 the deposit is $25.000.00. No mortgage is involved at this time.

I am in California. I have an eviction on my record but the company it is with is no longer in business. I have googled them and checked the phone book but I cannot find any way to contact them. I have had my rental history pulled and it shows them on it but does not provide a way to contact them. What can I do to settle it? Is there a way to get it taken off of my record?

I live in france. In 2002 I helped my ex partner (not wife ever) to rent a house. I signed a 3 year lease with her and paid a 3 month deposit.

When the lease was renewed it was done without reference to me. I was not invited to renew, nor did I ask for it.

Now, in 2007 I find she has been evicted for non payment of rent.

The local justice says Im responsible for the unpaid rent. Can this really be the case?

As a landlord, I leased a guest house to a tenant for a short term of 3 months that ended October 31. Do to financial problems, she moved out about 10 days later. To help her out, I agreed to let her stay up at the main house to give her some more time for her to find another place. This part was verbal. I want her out ASAP but now she is threatening to stay much longer and that it will take me months to get her out.

My question is; is she somehow under the lease even though it expired and she is out? Do I need to evict or do I treat this as a friend that I cannot get rid of, and if so, how do I get rid of her?

I am personally in the middle of a bankruptcy, so I know I would not be able to get on the mortgage. However, I am going to help pay for it because we know we will be spending our lives together. Is it possible for him to get a loan with a fico score of 600 and a yearly income of about $24k? If I could get on it with him, we would have a combined income of about $49k, but like I said I'm pretty sure thats not possible. Any advice would be fantastic, right now we're just exploring out options. Thanks in advance! PS We're looking to buy a condo in Portland, OR, which average prices are around $200k.

What do I do?
Me and my roomates do not get along any more. The lease started on Aug 30th and the lease ends in a year. I want to move out, looked for another roomate to take my place but they do not agree. They are really pissed off at me because I left with out an explanation, but they were ok with it at first until i decided no to pay the utilities since I wasnt living there. My roommates now say that I am stuck with them. I have really been thinking about different possibilities to break the lease but I am not sure...

Since one of my roommate's boyfriend is living there I have heard I can call the police to take him out.
Another roommate has a dog, they are permitted in the apartment, but she never payed her deposit (she has it hidden) I have been thinking on calling the police on both the dog and the boyfriend but what if this does not work. We are all on the lease (not her bf)
Should i Call the police on both? or make them misserable like i feel now?

My friend bought a house thinking it was a 2 bedroom home. A couple years later they decided to sell and their new agent said its only a 1 bedroom home. Apparently the second bedroom was unpermitted and the agent didnt disclose this when they first bought it. Do they have any legal rights against the agent not disclosing the unpermitted bedroom?? This is in California by the way. thanks!

We were just broken into and had all our electronics stolen. T.V.s Xbox 360, all our games, laptop, etc. We no longer feel safe in this home. There is nothing preventing the robbers from coming back if we buy new stuff. On top of that our bathroom wall is rotting, the lights in the living room and one bedroom no longer work, and there is a hole in the back roof of the house. We have informed the Landlord of this since September. He has been claiming to send his handyman over. The handyman came once and said he had to order some stuff. Never returned. Called again and again. Finally went back to landlord and told him. He called the handyman and he said he would come on the next sunday. He came. Said he forgot and he needed to pick up stuff from the hardware store and he'd be right back. He never returned. We were just robbed and it feels like the last straw. Can we legally break the lease without getting sued or having to pay him the rest of the rent?

Hi
I am trying to understand how my mortagage/interest rate is all calculated.
We purchased our home though an auction, and its owner financed us. Its a little confusing.
Anyways, the purchase price was 34,000 w/10% interest 1000.00 down and 375.00 per month on ballon note for 5 years. At the end of the 5 years we wil have 28,000 paid off. And will either have to refi or pay off the remainder or if the owner wants to refin.
Im not understanding how the interest is calculated. Is it 10% of each payment we make of 375.00? Or is it 10% of the overall loan amount of 34,000. Interest and all will be approx 50,000.
Currently it has been exactly 24 months since we started making our payments, we have made them on time, so Im certain we will get a lower rate. The amortization shows that we have only paid off a little over 3 thousand however when I calculate Im coming up with different figures.

The sale was handled through real estate agents...all by the book. It was an "as is" sale and I disclosed all known structural defects and flaws. The buyers sent me a nice, biographical letter along with their offer, which is now in escrow.

Would there be legal danger to me by establishing follow-up contact with them -- explaining little quirks and stories about the house that weren't covered on the disclosure statement? Things like the fruit trees on the property that need special care to produce...that kind of thing. Or best to just avoid contact with new owners once it's a done deal?

We have a contract on our house for $25,000 less than our asking price. We found the home of our dreams and were eager not to lose it so we took the low offer. Now they are making many demands and even though the inspection came back with very minor repairs they are demanding that every single thing be done or they will back out. My opinion is that if they will really back out over a clogged drain then they were planning on backing out anyway. Better now than later. My husband thinks we should give in to everything but I think we should refuse the majority and assume they won't really walk away. What do you think!?
