I am in California. I have an eviction on my record but the company it is with is no longer in business. I have googled them and checked the phone book but I cannot find any way to contact them. I have had my rental history pulled and it shows them on it but does not provide a way to contact them. What can I do to settle it? Is there a way to get it taken off of my record?

My papers say "unlawful detainer". Is there a way to settle it with the courts? I was never served any papers regarding the address listed. We were given a 90 notice because the condo complex was being sold. We were out by the 90 days. I cannot get into a new place because they wont let you have evictions. What can I do?

Try to contest it with the credit bureaus. If they can not verify it with a representative of that company they have to remove it permanently from your record. Make sure you contest it with all of the bureaus.
You will have a problem if the report on your file is from a court rather than the company itself. The court will have records that will verify the eviction, so even though the company no longer exists, the paper trail does.
Nothing ventured, nothing gained.
Good Luck.

An eviction is a court judgment against you. You cannot have it taken off your rental history or "fix" it. It doesn't matter that the company is out of business or cannot be contacted.

The time to settle it would have been prior to being served the eviction summons.

You are suffering the consenquences of being evicted - it stays with you for a long time.

There is no settlement. You have to wait for it to age off your credit report. I believe it will take 10 years.
