We chose our floorplan and lot in a subdivision in knoxville tn. During planning, I stressed the issue that we wanted our home to have steps going up to the front porch. We also made sure the home would have crawl space for our future wiring needs, so we would not have to drill on the exterior of our home. My husband also denied building on to our STANDARD DECK that came with the home, that he would build on his seld. The contract states that we would have a treated wooden deck, and crawl space. Our home is done and we just drove from VA to TN (my husband is military) to see the home for the first time. We arrive and the home has one HIGH step going to the front porch, is a slab foundation "no crawl space" and our "wooden deck" is nothing more than a block of cement. I have spoke with many contractors who say that slab homes are cheaper to build. But we were charged full price.. and we also do not have a deck, nor is our house higher off the ground then we wanted. What would you do?

A restraining order was served on another tenant in an attempt to have this tenant removed from the apartment because she refused to leave (her name is on the lease as well as the other person) after an argument. Is this legal?

Friends of mine, (a married couple) rent a duplex together. They ended up getting into a dissagreement, that got very verbal and physical, to where they've decided that they no longer want the relationship. She's asked him to leave, he told her no and for herself to leave because his name is on the lease as well. (even tho she is the primary tenant, he's an additional tenant) neither feel like they should move from the duplex. He has no family here and she has 4 small children from a previous relationship. To move would put both iin an awkward situation... how do you legally remove either name from the lease agreement.

Ok i woke up this morning and little to my dismay my car is gone. To make a long story short i called around and the cops told me it had been towed. Called the towing company and they told me it did'nt have a parking permit. What????? I've lived in these apts. for 11 and half months(my lease is up in 2 weeks) and have never had, or heard anything about needing to have a parking permit. So i called the apartment manager and she told me that they sent 2 letters out stating that we would need parking permits. Wth!!!! I never got one!! Now like a month ago i did call the city and make complaints on the apts, i also had to file a complaint with upper management on this same manager for other reasons. Since she's taken me to court 2 times trying to evict me . Both got dismissed. The last time she didnt even show up to court. We keep asking her for a layout of what we owe her. Because we know we were late once on our rent....cont.

Help! I want to invest and stop throwing away money in rent. I have looked at apartments in queens but the prices are insane! I can't afford to pay more than 13 or 14 hundred dollars for mortgage, taxes and maintenance total. Most places that are in a decent neighborhood run 275k and up! Should I just continue to save and invest while renting so that I have a solid down payment in 3-5 years?...but then i worry that prices will be even higher by the time i have enough money for a solid downpayment the property price would have increased the same amount that i have saved! Should i save and rent and in 5 or so years move to an area where it's not as expensive...like indiana!?

divorce?? she left about a year ago on her own free will, she has a house of her own( she might be on housing, since she dont work) she wants half of what the house is worth but it is being bought on a land contract and is kinda dumpy, so its not worth much. She says its worth $38,000 but probably not. Their is a protection order on her since she came over and kicked in the back door, etc. so she isnt allowed over here. i want this settled since we live here and we need her name off. we are broke paying for this divorce, child support, etc. so no way to pay her off, what should we do?? real legal answers please!!

Okay here's my question, I was going to rent a house from Remax ( I paid the dep. & signed the lease) then the owner decides that he wants to sell it & not rent it. Can they legally do that when I have already signed the lease? I know if I had signed the lease & paid the dep. & then I would back out I would be in trouble. What can I do?

We bought a property and want to sell it within the 1st year. Our broker told us we will have to pay a fee on the balance. He tells us it's 2% (seems way too low), but most other people I've talked to tell me it's 20%, which makes much more sense... I think he's lying, where could I get this statement in writing?
