I have cancer and filed bankruptcy 2 years ago. Recently my husbands mother passed away. She did not leave a will, and his sister and himself are the only living relatives eligible to receive the house. She was on Farmers home loan, so we have to pay 6 percent to even get the house under our name. My question is, that since we filed bankruptcy 2 years ago, can I sell the home that I am living in, and purchase his mothers home for the six percent that is owed? My sister inlaw also is in the process of filing bankruptcy... How does this work? What a mess! If we could get the home under all of our names, once we sold the house, we would like to set up payments to his sister. I am afraid if I sell my home, that maybe the hospital would try and take the equity I had in my home.... Any clue?

I am looking to get into the business and I would like to hear only from people who are already in the business and or people who have tried and failed. I think if i became an agent I would be fairly successful but want to know the ins and outs.

Also i want to know what is the difference between broker and for a mortgage company, if they're different wich one is better to work with.

I won an eviction because the tennant defaulted by not showing up in court. He has not lived in the residence for about the last 6 weeks and has left some furniture, clothing, and other items which prevent me from re-renting. The deadbeat of course cannot be reached. Can I move out and/or sell the furniture?

MY HUSBAND AND I LIVE IN NEW YORK (LONG ISLAND) AND AS MOST PEOPLE KNOW IT IS GETTING VERY EXPENSIVE TO LIVE HERE! WE ARE CONSIDERING MOVING TO LAS VEGAS AND WE ARE CURIOUS TO KNOW WHAT THE COST OF LIVING IS IN LAS VEGAS VS NEW YORK? IS IT A GOOD PLACE TO RAISE CHILDREN? ARE THE SCHOOLS GOOD? IS IT BETTER TO LIVE IN ONE AREA RATHER THAN ANOTHER? THANK YOU IN ADVANCE FOR TAKING A LOOK AT MY QUESTION AND ANY ANSWERS WILL BE MUCH APPRECIATED : )

Hi all - I live in Michigan and had bought a house with my boyfriend. We broke up and I moved out. I wanted to sell it but he wanted to stay there. My then ex-boyfriend asked me to sign a quit claim deed because he needed me to do that so he could refinance the home in his name only. It never happened -- over 3 years later it still shows up on my credit (he has been paying on time). I have letters and emails from him stating that if I signed that deed that he would then be able to refinance. Do I have any legal rights here? It is going to affect my ability to purchase a new home with my husband. Any ideas/advice would be greatly appreciated!

It just sounds confusing - are they asking for twice the usual rent as a deposit in addition to the rent for the month you move in, or just one months rent in addition to your monthly rent?

I haven't lived on my own before, and the wording on that is unclear to me.

It is a condo, and it is in need of repair. I don't have enough money for renovations. I know that now is not a good time, what should I be looking out for?

I'm thinking about buying a condo in the Seattle-Tacoma area and renting it out. What sort of insurance do I need, beyond basic homeowners' insurance? What about liability in case someone hurts him or herself in the apartment (not due to any neglect on my part)? This would represent a big financial step for me. Any landlords or insurance professionals out there who can advise me? Thanks.

Today i'm at home, heard steps coming up to the door. I got up to see who it was, and I see my landlord running down the stairs. She saw me through the window on the computer and took off. What are your thoughts?

I'm looking for river front property for recreational use. Preferably in South Carolina. I've found dozens of web sites catering to large parcels or parcels already zoned and planned for community use. I'm more interested in recreational use where the land is still more or less primitive. Something in the 5 to 20 acres range.

History : Through a previous (approx. 10 years ago) divorce I signed the deed and/or note and all rights over to ex husband for house. He stopped making payments and house was foreclosed and it is showing up on my credit report. I have disputed this potentially negative item twice. It states that I have joint responsibility with ex. How is this? Can I get out of this? How long does a foreclosure typically stay on a credit report? PLEASE someone, any advice?

I have heard several mortgage companies use independent notaries to notarize their paperwork. I have no idea of the going rate to do this.

Assuming you could ask the buyer anything without offending them, what type of data points--price range, pre-approval letter from mortgage broker, etc.--would you want to know before accepting a new buyer client? The intent is to separate serious buyers from those who are just "shopping".
