Hi, I'm a little nervous that I am not able to save much for retirement due to buying two houses. I'm thinking it's good for retirement to have a few houses paid off, am I thinking correctly? I was thinking later on having one house at least paid for and the other renting will help in retirement - but am I being stupid? Thanks for your opinion!

Divorced 3 yrs ago, judgement was that I give him quit claim deed to house & he was to pay off debts (I only suspected amounts, we were separated for some time). After divorce, checked my credit report and saw a credit card on it, disputed it saying it was his debt and we had divorced & to correct it, and subsequently it was removed from my report & I assumed that was the end. Ex died a few months ago, now just this week I've been contacted by cc co. saying I owe $29,000! I earn low wages & no assets left. He apparently opened acct before I knew him & as far as I remember I am not a co-signer nor did I spend the money. He died broke but his mother died just days after him, and I believe his estate would have inherited substantially. The cc co is demanding immediate payment, saying they will ruin my credit which I have slowly built up to score of high 700's since the divorce. Told it is 7 months since last payment yet I've never seen a bill. Advice? Sincere thanks.

hi , im french, and i have heard that american teachers (for children aged of 6-12 years old) are not well paid and i saw that in general their salary is around 35,000 $ /year. Maybe it's a mistake, but for us in france its corresponds to25,000 euros/year, what is a really good salary. so my question is " is it hard to live with 35000$/year in usa?"
And my second question is for u americans what is the minimum salary that can suffice to live correctly?
thank u for your answers, i hope u will understand my english

A friend of mine owes me £2000. It's built up from me lending him money. The problem is I've got no proof that I've lent him this money and everytime we fall out he threatens to not pay me it back. He doesnt have a job at the moment and says he'll pay me back when he is working. However I worry that I'm going to lose this money, how can I make sure that I get the money back?
Can I get some sort of legal document written up for him to sign saying he owes me this amount?
If so how do I go about doing this? Any suggestions?
Help!

So far I've been shot down everywhere I find. I just got hired onto my new job, but don't have any money coming in yet, I've also just recently moved from TX to OK, but I'm back in TX at the moment. I had over two years at my previous job, and I will add that my credit is very poor (I'm considered high risk). Is there anywhere that will loan me $500-$1000 online to help me catch up and use towards moving expenses/bills until my first check comes in? So far everywhere I look I get turned down because of my time at current job, or credit. Is there a loan place for "practically unemployed high credit risk" people?

If there is a company who's CEO makes false statements about its well being to mislead investors. For Example: The statement is made that the Stock will rise and the company is in great shape despite orders being cancelled and the company failing. The CEO still makes statements that the company is going to be successful despite the facts. It is then revealed that the CEO had been faking orders to fake the financial well-being of the company. There is an accounting firm that has also certified the accounts during the entire time. The CEO states he has found a "silver bullett" to stay on top and maintains the firms well-being.

The firms stock then drops to 2.00 a share from 99.00 a share after the CEO's and Auditors lies have been revealed.
An independent investor owns 1,000.00 shares and believed the CEO's statements. He now wants to sue for his losses.

My Question is Exactly what federal securities laws have been violated here by both the CEO and Auditors?

Please HelP !!
