Should I file bankrupt this year or wait till after taxes in january?

If you are broke now you need to file now. If you are not broke now then don't file now.
If you think you might be broke next year then you've got time to look for alternatives to bankruptcy. If you can find an alternative, take it. It will be better than bankruptcy.

can you wait until next year to file, or do you need to file now? That is a decision only you can make. But consult a bankruptcy attorney in any event.
