I was recently rehired at the fortune 500 company Ive worked for for 7 years. When they rehired me we discussed direct deposit and I chose not to have it. It was very clearly discussed that i would not have this. When my first check arrived it was a direct deposit receipt. Turns out they sent the money to a bank acct I have not used in 2 years or ever in this state and owed money to. I had direct deposit at an earlier position in a different state 2 years prior and they just used that payment information on my current check.

They are holding me responsible to pay the money back at a later date if they are to recut a check for now. Can they do this? What can I do? (Cant afford a lawyer, just moved here and am now "in limbo" w/ a living situation). I didnt sign anything authorizing this transaction. Can they really just garnish my wages until it's paid back?

I'm going to be staying with a family member in a different state for a few months to a year. I won't become a resident of that state but I would like to have a checking account there so I can have a debit card on hand. Is that possible? Or is it possible to keep my checking account here and then use my current debit card there? I need a way to deposit checks from working while I'm there and be able to use that money for food, gas, etc...

I am a team of 1 and I need some way to raise two thousand dollars by February of 2008 without having to sale cookie dough, sally foster, or stand on the side of street begging for donations. I am a student in high school and we are going on a trip in February to Paris and London and the trip costs $2000 so I need a simple way to raise money without having to pay a whole lot upfront but is highly profitable and there are no catches to it. I know your probably going to say get a summer job but that the thing I'm a year from being able to even qualify for a job. I'm very smart and am willing to work but that doesn't mean I want to mow lawns either.

I'm actually just playing a role playing game, but I am told this is probably similar to real life. We play as covert opps, and this mission seems very un-realistic. I think I was told that the characters in Splinter Cell have these on them, so what do they mean?

The cashier of a Indian gorcey store in Waltham gave me a Two Dollars Bill.

I've been moved from Canada for 8 years now and this is the first time I see a Two Dollars Bill.

Is it counterfeit money?

I have just started doing some real estate on the side. I recently got a comission check for about $6000. After paying a few things I know have about $4000. My husband and I would love to buy a house in the next year or so and this would be great to put towards a down payment (a low priced house would be about 400,000).
Should we use this money to save or pay off 2 bills we have a personal loan that has 1100 left on it, we pay 75 a month and the interest rate is 9.9%. We also owe 2200 for our sons cord blood banking. We pay 49 a month and the interest is 11.9%.
We also have my car loan which is about 14000, but I think we will leave that for now.
I was thinking we could take the 49 and 75 that we usually pay in bills every month and save it. I also thought if we pay these things off, it will improve our credit and hopefully get us a better mortgage.
What do you think?

I am filing chapter 7 bankruptcy. I was orginally going to keep my car which I love. I still owe about $7000 , which is about two years of payments. And it's insurance is pretty high because it's a newer sports car. My dad recently gave me a old car, that runs good and is paid off with cheaper insurance. Should I surrender my car and keep the one he gave to save money. PS My car is not worth $7000.
