I have had awful service with several banks, and people keep telling me to go to credit unions, they don't really tell me why...they just say "its better" with no real reason...in your opinion which is better..and if you could tell me why..that would be appreciated.

A fews years ago I got into serious debt & ended up defaulting on my loans. I contacted my numerous creditors, arranged reduced repayments & am nearly out of debt but my credit rating is understandably shot to pieces.

Is there anything I can do to repair my credit rating? Thanks.

I will be a 60 years old in 2 years. I am a widow.
I plan to apply for my survivors benefit at 60.
My husband was recieving $2500. per month from social security at the time of his death along with IRA distributions and
a monthly non-government pension.
My question is this...if i am collecting $2500. per month from my IRA distribution will that decrease my benefit? I do not work. all my income is "passive."

I have to start with telling you that I am Bipolar. In the yrs of '05 & '06 I was in a manic state twice & bounced many checks, spent my $1000 VISA limit & my $500 SEARS limit. Then I didn't pay on these, so with collection agencies after me, late fees & I took 2 payday loans out on top of it all ($1500 in total), I am almost $5000 in debt.

I am no longer manic. I went to my bank & another one for a $5000 loan so I can pay everyone off & of course they denied me due to my credit report

I am now on disability due to the Bipolar & unemployed. I have nothing! But I have to start paying my debts before I end up being sued or being called into court.

Can anyone give me advice on how I can obtain a single loan of $5000 (not a cash advance or anything like that, they suck all your money and blood)? I worked out a monthly budget & a friend will help me stay with it. But where do I go to start this?

HELP PLEASE! Thank you!

I've always paid off my credit cards in full every month, but will almost totally wipe my savings account if I pay this month in full due to some unusual extra expenses. So, I'm considering paying half of the full amount and transferring the rest to a new credit card I recently got, but am wondering about the ramifications of doing so. (I've never done a balance transfer before.) My understanding is that transferring the balance would pay off the old one and then I'd have at least another month (without interest) to pay the rest of this month's expenses. Am I correct on all this? And more importantly, how would this affect my credit rating? Thanks

I have been with my bank for 7 years.
Recently i had someone steal my details and my account was completely emptied. They stopped my online banking and the bank maching chewed my card.
I am travelling all the time in my job and find it very hard to work with my bank on the phone.
I ordered a bank 6 weeks ago and i never got it. I eventually ordered a total of 6 times over a month and half period.
When the bank explained the problem they had made a few human errors. These human errors nearly cost me my job as i was unable to pay rent where i was staying in spain and had to come home. Now that i am home i know i have atleast 2k in my bank but when i went to withdraw some money its not available. I had to borrow money again and had to walk 5 miles to get home in the rain. This is such a big problem for me and i want to know if the bank can compensate me in anyway. Thanks for any help and advice.

I am about to graduate from a medical school, with an educational debt of $200K. My starting salary in the profession will be around $125K/year, and should steadily go up aroud 5% every year for the next 25 years.

Is it good idea to pay back this loan right away, or opt to choose a 30 yrs repayment plan?

Also, if I choose the repayment option (30 years), will this be good on my credit report, rather than paying it back in 3-5 years?

Thanks
