I have been with my bank for 7 years.
Recently i had someone steal my details and my account was completely emptied. They stopped my online banking and the bank maching chewed my card.
I am travelling all the time in my job and find it very hard to work with my bank on the phone.
I ordered a bank 6 weeks ago and i never got it. I eventually ordered a total of 6 times over a month and half period.
When the bank explained the problem they had made a few human errors. These human errors nearly cost me my job as i was unable to pay rent where i was staying in spain and had to come home. Now that i am home i know i have atleast 2k in my bank but when i went to withdraw some money its not available. I had to borrow money again and had to walk 5 miles to get home in the rain. This is such a big problem for me and i want to know if the bank can compensate me in anyway. Thanks for any help and advice.

Make an appointment to see your Branch Manager (nothing less) and put your story forward saying that if he doesn't arrange to do something on your behalf to sort the problem you will take the matter to the Banking Ombudsman. It's like a black mark against them and they wont like it. Do it face to face with the Manager though and ask for a proper explanation.

After being a customer for 7 years they treated you like that!

Either write to the Chief Executive of the bank asking for a new account number and compensation and send it recorded delivery. OR better, ask your local bank manager what the official complaints procedure is, and then follow it.

Only then can you take the matter to the financial regulators. Meanwhile I'd try to get my money paid to me in a different way. Something like this happened to someone locally, it took 3 months to sort out and then she got compensation.

good luck

Why are you blaming BOA when this is within YOUR control to know how much money you have in the bank? YOUR CONTROL. Yes if you do not get this error YOU made taken care of then they will start charging from 5-10 per day. Again within YOUR control so stop blaming someone else and just say I made a mistake.

I had my account hacked a year ago [Nat West]. Once you report the fact to the bank they should have sent you a form to fill in for identity theft/internet fraud. Once you have signed this form [stating that you had nothing to do with it and gave nobody your confidential details; pin number etcetera] the onus is on the bank to make good. It is 100% THEIR RESPONSIBILITY to protect your money. Nat West immediately re-instated the funds to my account and if you are with ANY high street bank they MUST do the same [under section 14 of the banking charter, which they are ALL signed up to]. Hope this helps.
